Just wanted to see how the shed hunting has been going in other provinces so far this year. Here in northern Alberta it has been quit mild and the deer are holding on to their antlers longer than normal. So far I have picked up 10 sheds with the best set going about 160". Anyone else having any luck?

Here in south western ontario the snow just melted and I have found one set and a bout half a dozen singles, with the set sitting about 140" and my biggest single at about 67". Hopefully get out this weekend

Found a nice smaller non-typical probably scores around 160

Found all of them at least a month ago.

Luck mostly and lotsa tramping unless you build a shed trap or have a dog trained to find them.....and your avatar is freaking me out, having flashbacks from last night,I feel drunk again....I need a beer.

the most I found ( the big ones anyways) have been in deep thick bush where they have bedding down and dropped them. My two biggest sets I've found laying side by side, almost think someone placed them like that. One was 157" and the other 148"

find some in corn fields where deer were yarded up, I definatly don't find very many though.

Lots of walking and keeping a good eye out for them in the grass or amongst the branches. My wife and I found 8 shed last fall walking around and one the nailed me in the leg had a nice drop tine.

Are the two parts (L & R) generally close together, or are they scattered all over?

If they are close together does that mean that the buck is bashing against a tree to knock them off deliberatley?

Just drove thru Field, BC yesterday just west of the tourist/rest stop is a huge elk antler sticking out of the snow.

I first saw only the tip of it about 9 - 10 days ago as I was going east and and it was very exposed when I saw it yesterday if I wasn't totally loaded with my wife/son and our luggage I would have stopped and picked it up but I had no room to put it in the car.

Poor planning, Camp Cook! :D

Gotta keep a couple tiedowns and a couple bungee cords in the 'Emergency' kit in the trunk.

My wife is getting used to me seeing things on the side of the road and stopping for them. She usually just rolls her eyes and mumbles a bit.

I found a matched pair of Mulie sheds one year, about 3 feet apart on the ground. Figure that the buck had bolted down a rathole trail and brushed them off. Wife found a nice single antler sitting on top the snow about two months back, so I dunno what the trigger is for dropping them, exactly, but they started dropping them here a while ago.

Cheers
Trev
