Shed some light on this Browning 22 takedown

Would like some info on this 22 takedown
Year of manufacture
Is it a browning or fn
Does it have value comes with box but box is in ruff shape.
Thanks for any info

That is a FN Model A 22 lr (Browning SA22).

The "Model A" might still be visible on the top of the box.

The rounded pistol grip may indicate 1920's (along with the "smoke less powder" marking on the barrel).

The serial number, if original to the gun suggests it would be a 1956 or 1957 model, but (to me) the pistol grip looks wrong to be that (late). Before 56 serial numbers weren't required and there are no records from FN.

I can't see for sure, but this looks to be the "top loader" style.

Sorry, can't help you with a value - a 22 short version recently sold in the US for $440 (similar year range to yours by the look of it).
 
Well since it has smokeless mentioned in the calibre, I would say it's a bit older than 1956. Probably 1920s from my guess.
Does it have the loading hole in the wrist?
I would love that gun!
I have the same gun but not in great cosmetic shape.

That's what I was asking about - should be a lhole in the top of the wrist for loading if it's pre-WWII.
 
Yes that is a FN top loader, great little gun, I have a couple myself, had 3 but a friend talked me out of one.

Pre 1955 (I know not very helpful) considering condition and the box I would not take less than $600. While there are quite a few showing up on the EE they are generally in a lesser condition and without the box.
 
IMO $500-550 is fair for both parties, depending on how serious the "blemishes" are.

At the last gun show I was at, one of the tables had three Belgian SA-22's in mint condition, one was in the box, asking price was $475, $500 and $600 for the boxed one... they were still there on day two, and he dropped is prices by $50 on each... he ended up taking $350 for the least attractive rifle and took the other two home... I was tempted to offer $450 on the boxed one, but he was one of those vendors who treated offers like they are insults to his children.

Here is one that I did buy, a 1989 Japanese SA-22 Excellent in Box for $425...

That is why, I told you about the gun show Belgians... at a large gun show, he couldn't get $600 for a boxed top loader in perfect condition... that tells me that $600 is not realistic... hence my estimate of $500-550.
