Wondering if anyone follows this practice ? Would it be a good idea to prep the brass complete with primer and store it till needed. I was thinking that by having a supply of brass prepped, primed, and ready for powder and bullet would be more efficient. Will the primers last indefinitely ( couple of years ) once in the brass without any ill effects. Storage would be cool, dry, and, dark.

Primer is very long lasting, no idea how long it will stand but let say two or three years. I have some fogotten unpack primer seating inside the garage, hot summer and wet winter for about three years, full of spider web and dust, I found out and put them into pistol rounds and they all work.

I got about a thousand primers from my grandfathers basment that had been on his loading bench for at least 20 years. Add the 6-7 I had them before I used them and call it three decades. Not a problem with any of them.

They where CIL and great to work with.

I don't see how storing primers in brass is any different than storing primers in their little cardboard packaging - it's not sealed.

Stored properly, primers should keep longer than powder. And it that's stored properly, it should keep indefinitely
