I have an old Cooey I purchased off the EE and the ejector needs some help. The few pins look slightly mushroomed as someone was closing their eyes while using a pin punch (or at least that's what I imagine they were doing from all the damage in there). I'm thinking a bit of dremel grinding to reduce the 'shroom and then try punching properly? Is there anyone who has taken one of these apart and is willing to impart some knowledge? If you have a few detailed pictures I would be very grateful! It's a project gun and I'd like to restore to a smooth working condition. I will also be pulling the trigger assembly apart to clean and improve slightly if possible.
I may try posting pictures if I can figure out how to do it.

Likely the older model 84..........Sureshot was made by Cooey for Sears..........may be pics on Numrich Gunparts under Winchester......then scroll through the models..........Harold
 
Thanks Harold. I am hoping for someone who has pulled it apart themselves. I remember a post from awhile back that there was someone who was a bit of a Cooey expert but I can't find the reference now plus I don't know if they are still around. Any Cooey experts out there?
 
The pins are staked in place at the center IIRC. If they are allowed move to either side you will have to break them to get it apart again.

What is wrong with it?
 
The ejector is very sticky to the point of binding up. Barely moves when pushing on it with my fingers. I could try soaking the entire assembly/barrel end but it feels almost mechanical and not debris. I have tried spraying copious amounts of cleaning solvent at it. I'll try to get a pic up soon.
 
Thank you for the schematic/blueprint. I've seen it before. Pin 26 is mushroomed and the assembly lug has some pin/peen marks around the hole/pin. Pin 27 is slightly bent but will fall out if angled a certain way or pulled out with fingers and minor adjusting. Item 4(the shell ejector) does not move freely. The spring may have broken and partially wedged itself in there. Could explain the jamming. Thanks for the suggestion black powder. I might just try and go for it and order some replacement pins and a spring if necessary.

You need to know that Pin 27 (the one that actually triggers the ejector) is made of high strength steel; it takes a lot of force when in use. If you use one of lesser steel it will just bend up or break. Also, that pin needs to fit VERY firmly in place; if it's loose and moves to one side or another, it will cause the barrel to jam on the frame when you break it open. When that happens, they are a REAL ##### to open.

When you get the ejector out, clean the slot it goes into with a wire brush, and use a small file to clean up any rough edges on both. Do the same thing with part 25. Try sliding the ejector back and forth in it's slot without the spring in place to ensure that it's moving freely. If the spring is not broken you should be OK to go. If that doesn't fix it, a new spring may be in order. Note that these spring are very strong, so it needs a lot of force to be locked back in place.
