I bought myself a Hornady cam lock trimmer and 150 once fired 308 brass a couple of weeks ago. Got home with it and discovered I needed a #1 shell holder. I called around nobody had Hornady shell holders. Eventually I found a store that had a used #1. It arrived today and it turns out to be a Lee #1 shell holder. Nice.
So I call Hornady and ordered one they should be able to ship one to me in 3 to 4 weeks.

Is all reloading equipment getting scarce now? So far I have paid $11.55 Canadian and $17 US for #1 shellholders and there is still no prospect of me being able to trim brass in the near future.

Why not just buy a couple sets of Lee's in the green box.
They work just fine as long as you dont confuse the number system between them and RCBS,Redding or Hornady.

Sets of them are common as dirt in most of the better sporting goods stores and a whole lot less money then buying single units.

Lee holders don't fit the Hornady trimmer. Someone just shipped me a Lee shelholder saying it was a Hornady which I new did not fit as I have other Lee holders.

Now I have to buy a new gun in the caliber which fits Lee #1 shell holder so as not to lose money. :D

A cutter and lock stud is fairly cheap from lee. The shellholder and pilot not much more, this could tie you over until Hornady sends you theirs.

I just bought an RCBS 8x57 holder at Russell's and they had shelves of them, both in sets and individuals. I didn't pay any attention to the brands, since I stopped looking when I found the RCBS one I needed.

Hey I just learned something.

I always thought that a Hornady #1 interchanged with RCBS #3 and Redding #1 or Lee #2.
I've got the Pacific 266 and 366 shotshell loaders (Hornady now) but dont own any of their metalic stuff.
What did they do different with theirs so others dont work in their trimmer?

BTW I can send you a bag of .357 brass if you want something to chuck in that Lee.:D

Its basically down to the the diameter of the whole in the centre of the shell holder whether it fits on the Hornady trimmer or not. The Lees have a smaller diameter hole it appears. I don't know if there are any other differences.

thats ok im looking for j type shell holder #26 for .223
old lyman all-amereican turret
newer x does not fit and cannot find adapter

NIWS,
good luck getting your #26. If I find one I'l mail it to ya. :)

I'm now trying to convince myself I need 2 trimmers, next one will be a Lyman universal, which I almost bought 3 weeks ago. I preferred the Hornady because I thought the shell holders were a better I dea for keeping the brass aligned, rather than the chuck of the Universal. :(:(:(

Anyone know of a reason to have 2 trimmers for a guy that only cranks out less than 50 rounds/week?? :D

We carry lots of reloading equipment and yes we have the Hornady #1 shell holder in stock. We have seen a huge interest in reloading in the last year and have sold out of many items but have new inventtory and components arriving daily. Our Hornady equip in vey low but we are doing up a big order as we speak. We carry Dillon, RCBS, Lyman and Hornady for equipment. Phil.
The shell holder is currently $11.00

When I first started I bought both set's of LEE shell holder's.
One set for press's and the other set for the LEE auto prime.
Never had to buy any other's.
EPP'S has it all.

But you would have to if you had a Hornady trimmer. :D
