Not joking here ... anybody with a Netflix account (and an ear for teenaged dialogue) should watch the first episode of "Teenaged Bounty Hunters" on Netflix.

Heads-up ... use English sub-titles ... kids talk so fast these days.

Y'all don't have Netflix?? It's worth it for Longmire alone ...

OK OK ... to answer your question, the young lady says, "This here's a Mossberg 500. I used to be a Remington 870 kind of girl, but I like the shell-lifter placement of the Mossberg better."

Bam. There you have it.

Sez it all ...

Perfect "product placement" ...

I can live with the 870's slide release, and the safety is faster to disengage than the Mossberg's as long as you have an oversized safety button ala Vang Comp, but the lifter sucks.

Not only does it get in the way when you're loading, especially when you have gloves on, but it complicates trying to clear certain types of jams.

No aftermarket part required for the ambidextrous and impossible to mess up in a less than optimal situation safety. It’s good to go right out of the box, smart girl !

If the mossberg was made with a steel receiver, methinks the 870 would lose a lot of its fan base. Personally I own and like both guns. I find the Remingtons a little slicker to cycle, but the mossy has a bit of an edge for features and use under stress.
