Shell measurement

Gunsmith can likely do it. I believe the chamber measurement is that of a fired shell though.

Chances are, if it is an older gun and not marked, it is 2.75" chamber, however the chamber would measure around the 3" mark.

If you can take the barrel off, you may be able to do it yourself, with a small ruler or something.

They sell a gauge that's specifically for this, but all it is is a little metal ruler that's the width of the shotgun shell at its widest point, you just slip it into the chamber as far as you can, then read off the length from the rear of the forcing cone.

Don't let that scare you Robert . It is a newer gun (Baikal) With no measurement on it. Someone should be able to help you when you get it.

If it is a newer gun with no markings it is a 2 and 3/4 inch chamber.

If it is an older gun with no markings it could be shorter....

If it's not marked on the data stamp, it should at least be marked on the water table or lug; for European guns, this is usually in millimetres (70mm = 2 3/4", 76mm = 3").

Grant,

Ha,ha Not that one:D . I have another Baikal that I've had since dirt was invented. I've only ever shot 2 3/4 with it and want to know if I its chambered for the 3" shell.

But thanks just the same.

Can't wait to get that shot gun. One of my cats picked a fight with me on Sunday..................
