Interesting. I recently bought a #16 shell plate, just waiting for my friend who picked it up to drop it off. I'll give it look see when I get it. I'm sure someone else here has a #16 plate to verify. I haven't had any issues with my #8 plate.

There are a lot more Hornady plates than, say, Lee. I've substituted one for another at times, especially when doing something like depriming. I don't have the press set up now, but I think I couldn't do 556 on the 8 plate. It may work the other way around.

I just cycled a few 223 through the #8 plate and it runs through. Though there's a bit of sloppy play but seems like it would run through fine. Maybe I didn't need to order that #16 plate or the #16 plate will replace the #8 and run both 223 and 9mm.

Does the #8 eject 223 when cycling at normal speed?

I have both shellplates and don't regret it. I deprimed, sized, and trimmed about 1,000 .223 cases this morning on mine.

Update: 9mm doesn't fit in a #16

Thanks for the heads up on the #16 plate an 9mm. Guess I'll just swap plates when needed since it only take like 2mins. I didn't run the press at regular speed 'cause I had 9mm dies installed but it did eject the 223 case. Do you have the newer LNL press or the older model?

Mine is about 4 years old with the E-Z-Ject system.
