Shell plates stuck on my lee pro 1000

it's reverse threaded in case you weren't aware.

i put a screw driver into the first station so it goes through it all the way, then use a 1/4" spanner wrench on the action rod (what lee calls it, i would call it the indexing rod) and turn it clockwise to loosen it from the shell plate.

then the action rod shouldn't spin unless the shell plate is unscrewing which is what you want. you can always remove the action rod and insert a 1/4" allen key as per the lee manual i linked above. might be a bit tight but it should loosen up.
 
No luck yet. It really shouldn't be this difficult I would think. I'm gonna email budget shooters. This is the shell plate that came pre installed they might have an idea

so you bought a shell plate carrier or just the shell plate?

I had to pull out the indexing rod and I actually pounded the stripped hex hole partially closed with a hammer the tapped the rod back in and was able to take it apart. I never did buy a new piece because it still worked. Kinda hill billy or red neck but it got me going again and that was years ago and it still works. If I wasn't so cheap and didn't have endless patients I would just buy a dillon.
 
It's not really that it has a reverse thread. It's a normal thread but you need to screw the center post down into the plate. It's more a case of you're turning the screw from the wrong end. So you need to turn it as though you are tightening it to run the center part down.

And yes, the "screw" that has the hex in the small end is horribly soft and cheezy. The one I had was flared out and rounded out badly in that same way. What I managed to do was to get a 7mm to grab enough of the corners of what was left to bust it loose. Otherwise if it's all rounded out you may need to use a hacksaw blade or thin file on edge to cut a slot in the end and use some tough but thin steel as a "screwdriver" to bust it loose. Or drill a small hole across the ruined end then a larger one so you can poke something like a 5/32 allen key through the hole and bust it loose with that.

I bought a complete lee pro 1000 it came pre installed with 223 dies and she'll plate. I just purchased a 9mm shell plate and haven't been able to Uninstall the 223 plate
