Sheperd Scopes

Just had a talk with Tony Bernardo of CILA yesterday about Sheperd scopes. He is going to do a write up in the near future for Canadian Shooting Sports Magazine. I've never seen one in person but Tony had nothing but good things to say about them.

i have one and love it
it lives on my tic-tac in .308

I have two Sheperd scopes, they do what they say they will, however the optics are not great for low light conditions and the eye releif is about 3" Max.

don't do it!

Poor optics. Buy a swarovski with TDS if it's for hunting or a Nightforce for competition, target shooting.Just his man's opinion from my experiences.

I have one on my Master Sporter. Reticles work as promised out to ranges indicated in the booklet that comes with scope. As stated above glass is acceptable but no where near as good as the Leica riflescopes that I own. eye relief sucks if on a high recoiling rifle, but on a 308 Winchester its ok.
Good idea if you can get use to the clutter when looking into the scope. Good scope build, not great... Not everones cup of tea & after owning one I can see why. I don't plan on getting rid of mine, but don't think I'll be buying another anytime soon.

I have looked at bringing this line of scopes into Canada but decided not to do it at the present time. The general agreement seems to be average quality optics with an interesting reticle that can be useful in some circumstances. I have mounted a few of these on customers rifles but have not shot a rifle with one attached. Most of these scopes appear to sold direct from Sheperd themselves with few dealers carrying them. Phil.
