She's home already! Here's my 22' .375

As posted before I made the decision to cut down my 25" cz to 22". I really struggled with the decision going only to 22 after seeing some of your guy’s 20"s but after a bit of a conversation with the smith(also my great uncle) we decided to give her a try at 22". I dropped it off Monday afternoon, and wasn’t expecting anything for a couple weeks. Around 3pm from my cousin telling me not only that it was done and ready, but he was heading to Red Deer and could meet to deliver it! An hour and a half later it was at my office to bring home. They were able to re-use the express sight with some work, and I am very pleased with the turn out. I know 3 inches don’t sound like much, and maybe all in my mind but it seems a lot better. We’ll see soon I guess!
Thanks to everyone with your input and expertise. Your advice was truly appreciated.
Sorry about the photos. Kind of taken and posted in a hurry with my crappy Blackberry camera :)

Looks good, how does it handle compared to before? We want a range report with muzzle velocities :).

If you are using the same front bead, I bet it'll shoot low.
Thanks will do. It really feels good, balance seems better. I only messed around a bit when I got home so far. I am pretty sure it was a pic of your 20' BRNO that got me thinking of cutting one of these down originally before I even had one. Then seeing Davey's and Boomers as well, the 20' was almost the decision:) but I will give this a try and think it's gonna be fine.
I think someone said to go with a lower insert on the front, so that will be my next search to do. Does the rear need a change too or just the front?

Just the front as the original ramp and sight is now a little higher WRT the bore axis due to the taper of the barrel.

I am pretty sure someone mentioned that I can order a lower insert from CZ, so I will be checking that out next. Maybe I should have done that first. It'll be wearing glass most of the time, but the irons are used when I'm hauling it around in the trailer and banging through the bush. I've got some looking to do.

I can't get my head around this, shouldn't it make POI higher with a shorter barrel and the same front sight?
Shorter sight radius and the muzzle needs to be brought higher to line up the bead..... wouldn't be the first time I was wrong or the last, just curious.

Unless you are accounting for the 400fps lost with the shorter barrel. And yes I am kidding.:p

Noel, I think the idea is that depending on how the front sight is moved back it may be raised relative to the bore, due to the increasing barrel diameter as you move back along the barrel. This would likely be the case for a simple ramp front sight.

However, I'm not sure that this is true in this case as seems that the original banded front ramp was reused. This implies that either the end of the barrel was turned down or the inner diameter of the band was opened, or perhaps both. In this case it seems to me that the hight of the front sight would remain the same relative to the bore. In which case point of impact would not be expected to change. Unless I'm missing something........

My gunsmith also re-installed my front ramp and original bead back onto my 20" barrel (5" removed, more than the OP). It shot low and I had to install a #7 front bead, the lowest that they make. It now shoots dead on at 100 yards with the 100 yard blade with factory 300 gr ammo.

The OP may not have a big problem as he only cut 3". Only a range test off the bench will tell.

Should be a lot lighter know that it`s only 22" instead of 22'.:p Show us some pics when you get it range tested. I do like the lines of most CZ rifles.
