She's on her way! pics up!

You bet Ryan you will have a blast with your new rig. Being a member of this forum you will get lots of knowledge, some good and some not so. In the end if your happy that is all that matters.

if others can build one for cheaper, then go build one for cheaper.
im sure you bought it from alberta tactical since you can afford to. They have a good reputation with all 50BMG and rifles. Its like would you want to buy SKS and do tons of mods by someone unknown? or buy guranteed good quality rifle that is done by professionals. I'd rather pay more and get the rifle backed with warrenty with builder.
im sure some gunsmith can build the exact same rifle for around $3000 and want to save money go build one from someone. Dont be telling a guy it will only costed "$$" much unless u have high end rifle collections in your safe to back it up.
Good looking rifle and im sure you have a kick firing it up.
whenever ur on ur way to okanagan B.C, ill show u around!

I have/had enough high end rifles buddy, and been around the block enough to know. That a Rem 700 unless it has gold inlay and $1000 hooker it is not worth $5000. This rifle lost $2000 or more in value before the buyer even gets it. Check out the EE and see how $5000 trued rems there are..
Here is one for under $2000

I would hope Ryan's M700 custom rifle is well-built and brings years of worry free service - I wish him nothing but the best. However...

Heres my 338 Lapua built on a trued M700 MLR action, McM A5, HS Precision DBM, Holland QD brake and lug, custom barrel, glass bedded, tuned factory trigger and Mil rail; parts & smithing under $3K (not incl. rings / optics).

good for all of you posting your build.
maybe i would tell you guys ur guns are s**ts and its crap at $3000 like you guys are saying to other poster that its too much for what its worth.
not tryin to be a #### but all your rifle are great build if you like it regarding of how much the guy spends or spent on what you could have saved more $$ on.
Hard headed guys that think they know (which you guys prob do know lots) cant just say "great Build good job" rather saying " I can do better, i can build it for $3000)

here is my build that costed me $9000. and im sure you can say you can build it for $2000 and i dont care if someone does build it for 2000.
I would appreaciate other people supporting others rather then i saying you could have saved thousands more. Dont be comin to other happy guys custom build post and say its not worth whatever. The value doesnt matter when it is custom built for my own taste. You can say whats worth on some dude asking for "how much it would cost" post.

thanks for being so CGN and not being supportive on new build. Oh wait... with my one rifle.. i could have built 3 of your rifle posts!!! thats a cheap build . when i'm budget conservative then i'll think about it next time and ask you guys where to build cheap and sturdy builds! bet u guys feel like im mocking you "custom Pros" with the price of the gun. you did the same as gettin ripped off crap so i lay one out to you pros with my ripped off rifle build which i can afford to build many more for.

Good job "pros" that has been around the block for being so supportive!!! kind of makes me think how stupid some gun owners still think their opinion and their is the way to go and wouldnt have paid more or what they didnt want. Im sure are right on most info but still low ball to say that on new build.
and if you guys still dont understand... lets have an example as two different cars, one has chrome wheels and decals on it, others have flat black paint with Low prob tires. What would you choose and pay for? everyone has different taste and value of their items. Personally That ugly Berger and Lapua sticker makes the rifle lookin like a toy. I would scratch it right off and rather have scratched up barrel for my own taste. value would go own but its my taste. 338 Lapua built on a trued M700 MLR action i actually really like.... lol got nothing bad to say about that unit! damn great build with $$ to match it up!!

Yes, some of these guys are being unkind and need to learn a little tact. One thing of note, turn your bipod around the right way on your $9000 rifle.........

ryan which parts did you cera-kote?
I actually talked to Alberta Tact and was thinking of coating scope, bolt, barrel and he gave me around $400-600 price range depending how long it takes.

Barrel, action, bolt shroud, bolt knob, picatinny rail all FDE and bolt handle black

It way have been alittle cheaper because I was doing a whole build. Also not a optic.

What colours are you thinking?

Yeah i'm down in two weeks! Although my S&BPM wont be here for a bit and I think my vortex I have on my new rifle is messed up. I have to get out and see.. But always down!

I was thinking desert camo base with light navy green sprinkle on it. then dark green brush on top to finish off... maybe thats why the price was little higher....
it currently has black cere-kote but already but already kind of got over it........ I'm thinkin of making into okanagan for a night then going to kamloops Gun show on apr 21 or 22nd if i have time. we'll keep in touch and hit up trap club even. and if you want to try different side of sports i can bring extra shotgun for you to have fun in!

You spent 8950 on a rifle that has a bell and carlson stock your a fool :D (just making light of the situation) I held that same rifle (non custom version) at wholesale sports and it has a nice balance and feel to that stock.

ATR is probably the highest priced gunsmith in Canada (that I have talked with) that being said I have had him do work and don't regret it. It's only expensive if you can't afford it. This argument always comes up Your (insert high end rifle) is crap cause my (insert low end rifle) shoots the same groups and I didn't have to pay that much. Cost and quality mean something different to everybody. some of the posts in this thread make me chuckle at people that have to puff there chests out.

OP- Nice rifle make sure you post a range report.

I had rick cerakote a hunting rifle that gets beat up pretty bad and blueing wasn't cutting it for protection in the elements. If it's not the hardest coating that is out there it's got to be close. I will be getting more done for sure. I think I waited 3 weeks from shipping it there to getting it back but that was the quoted time.

If you feel I'm knocking a rifle or pumping my chest, rest assured, I'm not. Does money really matter? Well obviously not much to some. Maybe my state, unfortunately, is I believe there is a reasonable cost and fair balance for a semi-custom rifle. I know some gunsmiths target the really upper class of the gun market who have WAY too much money, and some that charge disproportionately when a buyer does not know it can be done for considerably cheaper. We all know they are out there. Good luck to them. I know they won't be getting my money.

OP- Nice rifle, please post a range report when you get a chance.

lol yes that is correct... I saw one of gun-works build with their own action, barrel with jewel trig, simple glass bedding. simple field style bell n carlson stock on it. and one retailer wanted to get $9500 +tax out of it.. that is without a scope.. that i would ask my self if it is worth paying that much for pre-built not too fancy rifle..
i just thought the custom build is custom build for a person not buying pre-built long range rifle and in that situation money wouldnt matter. didnt mean to push someone buttons. my apology to my felow CGN'ers

note: gun werks do not build their own actions stiller makes them and you can get a stiller tac 30 with mag for about 1500 to 1600 shipped to your door at least that is what I think mine will cost,

and gunwerks are currently using (soon to change perhaps) a macmillan stock that you can get for yourself for under a grand,

and a barrel from many suppliers, and a jewell or GC trigger for 300 beans, so what part of this rifle would cost 9g from gunwerks, anybody who drinks that cool aid deserves to part with their money, borden would build you a rifle for 3500 usa Dollars that would outshoot gunwerks in an instant, I know I have shot against Jim in BR competitions,

gunwerks is overpriced a lot,

Jefferson

lol good ol salesman that knows his items! the guys i spoke to said the hunting styles are in bell n carlson with jewel lol. did calculations in my head and the parts were less the $2000 and wanted $9500.. i couldnt believe it walked right away
