Hey everyone, I am thinking of getting a Shield RMS reddot for my Glock 17 MOS. I like the idea of the special baseplate allowing cowitness with the standard glock sights. But, I am having trouble deciding between the 4MOA or the 8MOA versions. What are your thoughts? Also I can only find this sight on Tactical Imports, does anyone know of any other places that sell it?

Thanks,

Jon

I have a 6moa Venom on my Glock which works great but I’d be ok with the 8...At any distance inside 50yds 8moa will keep you in the “A” zone without trouble...Unless you are routinely shooting longer distances, in which case the 4moa is probably better.

Either will work but with pistols I like a larger dot...Rifles I like 3moa...

Hey thanks for the input. Yeah I think I’m leaning toward the 8moa. Seems to fit my needs better. I see most people run a 6moa on pistols.

Thanks

So the dot sights just a little but higher? And thats ok with me its nice be able to habe standard hight sights and still be able to use them through the optic. Do you mind saying where you bought yours from?

Thanks

Jon

I much prefer the 3MOA on a pistol. For accuracy work I dim the dot down a bit. For action shooting, I shoot it brighter. I prefer not to obscure too much of the target.

I suggest you try both, if possible, before deciding.

My Glock 17 with the Shield RMS and low mount is more like a 1/3 cowitness. The bigger dot is nice for picking it up fast for speed stuff. I have a MatchDot II on a Ruger Mk3 with the smaller adjustable dots and it's good for accuracy. I assume with the Glock you're more interested in speed than accuracy.

If you're close to Ottawa, you're welcome to check mine out in person.

Not local to Ottawa but thanks for the offer. Think I will evetually pick up the larger MOA then seems like the better option.

Thanks

Jon
