I'm looking for a value for a Shilen stainless barrel. .22 cal, 1 in 16.5 twist, 28" long, 6 groove, 1.125" at chamber end tapers to .810" at muzzle. I picked this up a few years ago when I had my 2500X built. Unknown what chamber was cut in it. Has been used but very little use, bright shiny bore. Thanks.

Yes $50 is a bit low but what do you expect some one to pay for a used barrel with an unknown chamber? Is it threaded for a particular action? Anyone buying it is looking at cutting an inch off the breech end, chambering and fitting it to an action, cutting extractor clearances, crowning it... everything they would do to a NEW barrel.

If I was still smithing it's something I would probably pay $100, maybe $125 for and take a chance. I once paid $60 for a used Anschutz 64 barrel and I cut the chamber off and redid it with a tight match grade chamber and installed it (Loctited to the action) on a Ruger 77/22. (Charged $350 to do that) The buyer said that said it shot better than a 64 he had. The chamber is all important on a .22.

Generally speaking, for take-off barrels, I'll pay $150 for a nice heavy stainless barrel, and maybe $75-$100 for a similar CM barrel. The unknowns aren't worth it at a higher price, unless there's something I particularly want.
