Well, we had our annual winter milsurp match last weekend, and had a total of 31 shooters out. A good variety of guns, and shooters ranged in age from 16 to 70. We had 4 teams in period uniform, 2 teams of Americans and 2 teams of British, including Garand and Grat R who drove all the way out from Alberta for this. We also had competitors from Sask, as well as many who came out from Winnipeg and area.

Weather was actually warmer this year, despite our later match date. Any other weekend would have been -25 , like last year, so we got lucky with -5 and a light breeze.

By the end of the day, after having gone through the obstacle course and climbing up onto that bunker a couple times, we all felt muscles we didn't know about.

Anyway, I am staring this thread so some of the guys will have a place to put their photos up. Again, some great uniforms and some great milsurp firearms. I'll likely have some photos to add by the weekend myself. So come on guys....post those photos and clips.

My partner, Grant R, and a couple of other scenes. If anybody has any other pics I would appreciate you sharing. Now if I could only get a copy of the interview that I gave the camera crew from the media that attended.

Garand, your pics are not showing up, only Xs......

All I'm getting is a sales page for cameras.

Garand, you better email those photos over to Grant. He seems to have the photo thing mastered. Or do like I do...get a teenager to do it.

Part of your interview was on the Brandon 6pm news. I got it videotaped.....I'll get one fo the kids to transfer it to the computer this weekend and U tube it. The whole segment was a good one, showing a bunch of big kids having fun with their guns in the cold, with a historic perspective.

Pardon the expression but "how the hell do ya get so many people to show up???"

We had even more last year, and it was friggen cold. I think this one may have been a little too close to Christmas.

Grant,
Is that an original pistol magazine pouch you were wearing?

No, it is one of the repros which were available from WPG a few years ago - I only bought one of them, as a "stopgap' measure until I could acquire an original .... HA! The only original I've had a chance at was in rather shoddy shape so, at a couple of hundred dollars, I passed on it ....

Kicking myself that I didn't buy several of the repros, of course ....

Mind you, I am fortunate enough to have one of the original Canadian WWI-purchase Mills holsters -

Looks like a great event. How does one participate? Is it open to all interested or invitation only?

It is open to all interested, just watch here or the Manitoba Events Thread for dates/times, and come on out. We should be holding another similar event in the early summer, same deal, all are welcome!

Ya the only problem was their haircuts! They looked like extras in an Italian War movie!! And no I'm not bitter and twisted that they beat us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
