shipping concerns?

Canpar is great! I've had so much stuff delivered by them (mostly from CanadaAmmo) that they gave me a sticker for my window and will now drop off anything at my side door (no signature required). I love getting home an finding a crate of ammo or a gun sitting on my door step. Makes me feel like I live in the land of the free!

You just need to talk to that lady's supervisor (or her) and express your concerns. Sounds like she left there thinking she did the right thing.

Also free shipping? Go team CanadaAmmo!

My delivery person has never given me a problem or asked any questions. I will give a word of advice though, if for some reason she didn't want to give it to you she will just bring it back to the station and say it was refused on delivery. The only way that the company will know that she was requesting info that she shouldn't be is by you contacting them. I'm not saying that you should give in and show her anything, I'm just making sure people know that if you refuse the package and don't call then nothing will happen to her. Somebody said that you should make her wait while you contact canpar and that's exactly what I would threaten. She will either give it right over, or have to "sit on it" while you make your call. Hopefully its a nice hot day so she can bake in her stupidity.

Okay...I'll take the heat here.
On the one hand...she did not know proper procedure. Could be new on the job or not properly trained.
But really...this forum seems to full of people who obviously have never, EVER made a mistake in their lives.
Good grief...what an unforgiving bunch of yahoos!

Not on any shipping label I have seen. The return address says "Discotech/Canam"

This is what it said on the box's shipping label, when all i ordered was a ammo can, that being said i did get looked at funny, becuase I am 23, and i can't begin to imagine the thoughts going threw the guys head as he hesistates to hand over, what he may think ammo, handgun, etc, etc...

Yep, that's what mine said too.

so they're not allowed to demand a hunting license or pal in order to hand over my package right?
Just ID and they must hand it over?

Next time, I would ask them for their drivers and delivery truck license before letting them go!

Yeah, they should only ask for ID stating you're over 18 or 19.. whatever the age is and ask for a signature in some circumstances.

If they refused to deliver, I would most certainly call the RCMP and report a stolen firearms package, as it is technically your property they are illegally removing from your residence (your doorstep is your residence) without your permission. Feel free to explain that if they go walking off with it. They have no right to refuse delivery, as they are supposed to be unaware of the package contents. I would never accept to show a delivery person my PAL, or anything else other than my gov issued drivers license which proves my age and residence address.

I've never had an issue with my canpar guy, except he drop ships to my door/curb, and refuses to carry the ammo in another three steps for my wife (who has kids in tow).. so now I have my stuff delivered to my office.

And i've always had my return label as Discotech/CanAm, it has never been labeled as Canada Ammo. Made me laugh the first time I got a delivery. :)

I.D at most is all that is required and I believe that is only for booze incase its a minor. If your in same house as the person who's name is on the package then that is all they need to know. They deliver packages not the contents, by this I mean unless there are special instructions for the item then there is nothing they should be doing beyond deliver box "x" to house "y". What you are receiving doesn't matter, only what steps they must do to complete the job. I will add that it only matters whats in the package to the seller and shipper because of certain rules and regulations set by the company or our gov. If you can't ship an item then it shouldn't be on her truck in the first place. She isn't the last line of defence, she's a delivery person.

Perhaps next time the delivery folks comment on the weight you could say its disco balls and subwoofers. :)

I don't know what you are talking about ;) canpar has only ever delivered "car parts" to me from Discotech/CanAm.
I had to laugh today when I picked mine up the lady said that there sure are a lot of people in this town that order from this company.

I just checked a few of my boxes and the label said discotech/canam....BUT it was just stuck to an unwrapped box.......when I picked it up at Canpar in Edmonton the 2 employees working new what it was and was asking about it, nothing negative actually very supportive.....its just the fact they knew it was a firearm and a 5000 rnd .22lr box of ammo, both boxes being unwrapped with full descriptions on the outside. I understand this extra step would cost you more money and time but could alleviate some issues for your customers, not only but safety concerns as well. I wouldnt want those packages dropped off at my front door for my neighbors to see thats for sure.

If they have never delivered to you before than they need the I.D like a drivers license (certainly not my PAL) to be sure they are giving ammo or guns or any package for that matter to the person intended on the label. My Canpar guy Dale is so awesome he even brings treats for my dog! He is aware that I get guns and ammo and ensures I will either be home or home shortly to leave any package to ensure its safe delivery. Much like when I was on holidays and he phoned me found out I was on holidays so he hung on to my Ruger SR1911 for a couple days until I got home. He wants my purchased items to get to me safely. My Canpar guy rocks! Thanks Dale you the man! P.S Canada Ammo provides free shipping so beggars can't be choosers and I have no problem with how they deliver except any affiliation with Disco-techs! I am all Rock and Roll, Disco sucks! LOL!

I would mail every gun I have ever sold in a plastic gun case tie wrapped together if I was sure it would make it to the person I sold it too!!!!!! screw anybody who thinks they are some kind of delivery god! They need to read there own rules canpar and canadapost included!!!! when people like this present themselves I think what's that age old saying?..... Strike while the iron is hot!!! let the bastards know we are not just a bunch of un educated hillbillies stock piling for the end of the world!!! (although after reading the 18 billion posts on the fantastic 1911 ammo deal it would be hard to argue that, but anyways,) I say to hell with them suckers!!! if they want to be ignorant than let's kick them in the nutz!!!!! wow don't know what came over me hahaha but it had to be said I think!!??

I actually get stranger looks and questions from the GF when i get a package from "Discotech" than if i got one from "canada Ammo"

I recently ordered a ammo can threw CanadaAmmo, and that being said, it took a week to deliver to ontario, and the carrier was Canpar, and... befour i signed, i mentioned my full name, he then said to sign, and befour giving me the package he noticed it said CanadaAmmo on it.. and he asked again, whats ur last name? then he confirmed it with whats on the package befour giving it to me.... Bud just give me my ammo can, take my sig and get on, im thinking to myself...lol 1 week delivery whats up with that? none the less, good service from canadaammo...
