Shipping from Dillon?

Speaking from experience, people wonder why Dillon prices are so high in Canada... and assume you can get things cheaper ordering directly from Dillon than buying from a Canadian dealer. In reality, the Canadian prices (based on what I know at CRAFM) is actually a GREAT deal!

CRAFM, for example, has the CV-2001 tumbler for $249.99CAD. Now, that same tumbler is $205USD on the Dillon site. Just the conversion of 25% brings the price to $255.00 CAD from Dillon direct.

Take a 650 press. CRAFM sells it for $680CAD. Dillon sells it for $530USD. Just the conversion brings it to $662CAD.

Why buy from Dillon direct... when we can support our Canadian dealers who are offering it for the same price??? Shipping within Canada is always cheaper than shipping from the USA. Add to that only one tax if it is shipped out of province... and no other "border fees" and it's a no brainer!

but which dealer is best for buying dillon presses? (costwise)
Dillon directly?

P&D?
others?

I bought mine from P&D in Edmonton because I was going there anyway and if you can avoid shipping that is your best option.

I priced buying it directly from Dillon but with exchange at x1.25 it was more than buying in Canada.

I got my stuff a year ago from eguns.com.....same prices as Dillon but unlike Dillon, Chad shipped USPS ($100). The shipping would have been more but he ate about $100 of it to match the value of free shipping for US customers. At the time, the Cnd $ was pretty much at par and the prices from the Canadian dealers weren't even close (ie $430 for the 650xl from eguns vs ~ $600+ from P&D). In all I got the press and all the bells and whistles ($1700 order) and the deal was very smooth. With the $ now at $1.2, the savings may not be as much.

Our Dillon retail prices are about to go up with our next order (Dillon has had an annual price increase at the beginning of the year for the last several years). We buy Dillon direct and get 22% off the current retail prices and then pay shipping and broker on top of that (all in US $). In the last couple of years we have been paying a premium for shipping. As an example we got in a skid of product delivered by Fedex that was over $900 just for the shipping. I have had a couple of customers who decided to go direct to Dillon and by the time they got their actual bill in CND $ it was very close to our retail prices. We sell a lot of Dillon product and try to be competitive against our regular stocking CDN competitors. We also try to carry lots of inventory (we are a little short at the moment but that will soon change). The fluctuations in the dollar have also been difficult for us to establish a posted retail price list for Dillon as we adjust as we go. Phil.
