Shipping Handgun with Canada Post out west . what is the way that the CFO wants them to be shipped now i have heard that it cant be shipped by air  so which way can you
1. Priority™ Next A.M.* 2 business days (Guaranteed)
2. Xpresspost™ 3 business days (Guaranteed)
3. Regular Parcel™ 7 business days

then you add Signature and insur to it

I'll normaly send it ExpressPost with signature. If its a heavy box and I've taken a hit on the deal I'll ship it Expedited with my CP VentureOne Buisness Card. If he wants to fork the money out for Priority or Next Day, I'll send it FedEx or another Air Courier.

Xpresspost, I believe it comes with $100 insurance included and Parcel post doesn't.

There isn't that much of a price difference on small items, but I have shipped larger items Parcel. Always ship with "signature required"

Parcel Post w/sig reqrd and insurance is just fine. Tracking number is now generated which wasnt the case a few years back.

There is a sticky in the General Firearms forum and if you call the CFO for your short term ATT, they will tell you this. You do know you need a short term ATT for the post office, don't you?

"I was just looking at Canada Posts regulations on mailing firearms and this is what it says;

4.3 Firearms (including imitation and replica firearms)

Please contact the Canadian Firearms Centre at www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca or by calling 1-800-731-4000 to determine whether it is permissible to ship your firearms.
When it is determined permissible to ship firearms, they must be shipped as follows:

Customer Type --------- Service To Be Used
Non-contract Customer -- Regular Parcel with Signature

Contract Customer ------- Expedited Parcel with the Proof of Age (18 or 19) with Signature option using Electronic Shipping Tools (EST)

Firearms cannot be shipped via air. The Customer is solely responsible for meeting all Canadian Firearms Centre regulations.
NOTE :
Visit section 6.3.1 “Mail Addressed to Children” of the “ABCs of Mailing” chapter for an age of majority by province or territory listing.

There cannot be any ammunition in the firearm or in the package. Bullets, cartridges and other ammunition are dangerous goods and cannot be mailed. These items fall under Class 1 (Explosives) of the CanadianTransportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
Customers who wish to ship firearms must :
unload the firearms
attach a secure locking device to the firearms
lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container and
remove the bolt or bolt carrier from any automatic firearms (if removable).
Firearms cannot be shipped via air and cannot have any markings on the outside of the packaging. The Customer is solely responsible for meeting all Canadian Firearms Centre regulations.
NOTE :
For more packaging tips, refer tosection 4.2 “Package the Item” of the “ABCs of Mailing” chapter.

...I guess the "priority" post requirement has been dropped. Nice to know, i.e. in regards to $$$ for shipping."

LOL...

I have had several firearms (both restricted and non-restricted) and none of the following items were ever followed...

attach a secure locking device to the firearms
lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container and
remove the bolt or bolt carrier from any automatic firearms (if removable).

I've often wondered what would happen to these sellers if they unknowingly sold and shipped a firearm to a RCMP officer?!

Sellers you should really think about this prior to selling/shipping your firearms.

I used Xpress post, but when I ordered a pistol from Sporteque, it came regular parcel. As long as it's "ground" shipping, signature req; it's all good.

Fedex prohibits the shipping of firearms...I am trying to get that policy changed.

I have a question...

now i know you need a TATT to take a restricted to the Post Office, and that they will fax a copy to you. BUT i dont have a fax machine so will they EMAIL a copy instead? anybody know.

In NS, they simply give you a reference number. You call them, tell them which postal outlet you intend to use and the timeframe required. They create a ATT for the file and give you the reference number. No actual paperwork is generated.
