Hello, I recently put an order through Brownells, and on it was a BCM Comp. The lady on the phone informed me that this was fine as BCM is an approved company. Now I see that they have taken it off of my order, and labeled it as significant military equipment. I'll be honest, I don't know much about the ordering of parts from the US, but I thought that with the proper paperwork filled out, we were able to have these items shipped, as long as they are registered with ITAR as an approved company. I could be wrong, hense why I am asking here. Forgive my lack of knowledge, just trying to understand this system.
Thanks

Chris,

Ordering from One Shot would have ended up being cheaper... but you shouldn't have encountered any problems with Brownells. I regularly get AR parts from them, muzzle devices included...

I paid $50.00 more for a new Surefire brake on the EE than I would have through Brownells but it was in my hands in 2 days.
Sometimes it's worth paying a little extra no to have to put up with ITAR.

Well it's been taken off my order, so I'll be going through OST now.
Just wanted to find out if they were approved for import.

Thanks for the reply

If OST is legally importing them then so can you.
Some items have exclusive distributor rights which Brownells respects.

Ive been trying to get a muzzle brake for months but no luck from anyone, not even canadian suppliers. Im about to rip my hair out. Anyone know where I can get a decent brake ? SJC Titan or Griffin M4SD or anything of high quality??

Don't mean to hijack thread but I've called and emailed everyone.

Check ebay. I have had all kinds of luck there. BCM won't even ship crush washers. Keep searching. Someone will ship it. It's the USA laws that they are afraid of. You will find that DVDs such as Magpuls won't ship. They are classed as a controlled device also

If I can get it shipped, won't Canadian customs stop it ? I was considering shipping to family member in the US and then get them to send here? Am I breaking any laws ?

Importing in Canada isn't the problem, it's exporting from the U.S.

Bad idea
Am I breaking any laws ?
YES
There you go.

My first post said muzzle devices but that was a few years ago before ITAR was jacked up.

If you really want to know why phone them, all you'll get here is speculation and guesses.

Did, the guy on the other end had no clue, and didn't know who to ask. Transferred me to someone and the line went dead after 5 min of waiting. Not wasting my time to call back.

You need to speak to Sandy Moranville if you want a straight answer.

Good morning:

Thank you for your interest in Brownells.

Our Dept. of State has deemed flash hiders/suppressors, compensators and muzzle brakes as SME, significant military equipment.

At this time we are not apply for export licenses for these items as company policy.

Thank you,
Sandy Moranville

Maybe try contacting CRAFM
They often have JP Enterprises inventory
I use the JP/Cooley brake on my rifles and find it does what I need.
They may have one.

Thanks for the reply Sandy, clears it up for me.

As soon as they have the B5 Systems Bravo Stocks in, I'm going to put through an order. Thanks for the heads up though.
