Shipping parts to Australia?

I have not sent to Australia, but have received stuff from Australia - I would go to local Post Office, get the instructions from them - a customs form to fill out and attach to package, then find out how much to mail. I have received screws and taps from Great Britain, and I currently have an item on the way from Sweden and another item on the way from Australia, as it happens. Hurry up and wait until they show up...

usually the person receiving the items would be responsible for knowing IF they are legal to import

Im sure a quick search of your parts will tell if legal or not email the buyer and ask if they can legally import them save the email

Sending to Australia, It's not hard. looks at what they list as restricted and ship accordingly. The bad, Australia is far away and can be expensive if you want it there within 6 weeks. Realistically, even with tracking and insurance (good luck claiming it Canada Post will not honor it). Tracking is also not reliable nor even entered once delivered. Now Ozz is a big country and most live around the coast, if your address is rural the postal system is slow...... good luck

I have shipped parts to Australia. The recipient had to apply for and receive an import permit prior to shipping. It took him quite some time to sort through the procedure and apply for/receive the permit. He then sent a copy of the permit to me and, as I recall, I included it in the accompanying documentation. The part was a magazine for a WW1 vintage misurp rifle. Nothing particularly exotic.

Thanks for the replies. The recipient has the import system knowledge and has said as above. I will need to check with Canada Post for requirements on this end. Then need to figure out pricing.

I've shipped parts to Australia. About half of them get to the recipients. I no longer have much faith in the Australian mail system. I quit mailing parts about five years ago.

Australia and NZ have taxes on imported items.

The last time I sold an expensive bauble (a Rolex watch) to a guy in New Zealand, I wrapped it in a a new Zealand newspaper page. A store in Toronto sells newspapers from around the world.

In the package a wrote a nasty note that the watch was not as advertised and I wanted my money back.

he did not have to pay any tax.
