Im not a Newbie to firearms, but I am a Newbie when it comes to buying over the internet.

This is my situation, and if anyone knows the answer, please let me know.

I'm not a El Cheapo, but my wife is giving me a hard time about spending more money on another gun, so I would kind of like to know how much money I am going to need to buy a money order and ship it express post, and what I am going to tell her. Thats 2 different stories...LOL.

Okay, anyways. Does anyone know what it is going to cost me to buy a $625 Money Order from the Bank? Is there a service charge? or a percentage I have to pay on top of the $625 Money order?

Second, I need to send it Express Post from Ontario to B.C. Anyone know what it costs to Mail a Letter like that, so the Seller of the Gun I bought can recieve his Money Order?

I am going to have to Tell the Old lady I need $500, then I am going to have to dig into my secret stash for the rest.

I know its embarrasing, but heh, You gotta do what ya gotta do. LOL ;)

Check out the Canada Post "Find a rate" web page at http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/personal/findARate?execution=e1s1

I don't know much about money order purchases but it might depend on your bank plan.

Personally I very much prefer EMT (Email Money Transfer), an Interac service, which you should have easy access to if both you and the seller have web-accessible accounts at any of the major banks. Takes a split second to transfer the money and costs about the same as an ATM fee ($1.50?)

Yep ... no need for the right hand to know what the left hand is up to :)

There was a time I went to my bank for a money order, but instead, the teller advised me to go for bank draft which is much lesser service charge (or free, can't remember).
Money order would cost at 5~10cad charge.

Postal money orders are condsiderably less expensive than bank money orders. Since you're going to the PO anyway, you might as well do a one stop thing.

I have an answer for you. Go to the bank and ask them and then go to the post office and ask them. Seriously, what bank chain do you use? If they charge at all they charge a flat fee not a percentage. My money orders are free with the account I have at RBC.....as are emt's which I much prefer. You can go to Canada Post website and find out how much it is to mail instead of going to the post office. I cringe at posting this information.......you need directions from your house to the Post Office? Just ask on the interweb lol...
