shipping rifles

Wow. That's pretty good. The other reason I am asking is because I was looking at the Mosin Nagants on Westrifle.com. When I did a shiping estimate, it says $115 for Xpresspost, $51 for regular. I thought $115 to ship one rifle (that cost $220) was a lot.

If you add insurance and signature required it gets up there. I shipped a BSA bolt action to the east coast a while ago from Alberta and it was close to $50 insured for $500 with signature required.

Usually 30-35 dollars from me to the West Coast.

Depends on weight, but mostly dimensions. I believe over 100 cm and it makes a big difference.

Lucky my local postal outlet is becoming a friend, and cuts me a break, where he can. ;)

With Xpresspost you're paying for the speed of delivery. Some postal worker doesn't get his smoke break, so you gotta pay big time. ;)

Anyone that has a business should get a VentureOne card from Canada Post. You get some discounts. Expedited shipping with tracking and insurance costs the same as regular post.

$35 with a tracking number and $100 of insurance cost to cost for a long arm like a Lee Enfield. If you want additional insurance that will cost more.

.
Moisin Nagant from Manitoba to Newfie with signature, insurance, etc, was less than $45.

Manitoba to Ontario was $38.

Canada Post works on "Zones" I can ship something from Manitoba to B.C. cheaper that I can ship it from Manitoba to Northern Ontario, even though it is three times as far to the West Coast.

I just shipped one rifle to Edmonton: $81 for Exprespost, signature and oversized charge. Another that I shipped out also to Edmonton was $47: exprespost and signature.

I just shipped an SKS in a Mosin box from Vancouver to the island regular post. With 300 insurance it came to almost $37
