Shipping with Canada Post

For those of you who move rifles frequently, what is the best way to pack and ship rifles since the new regulations? Do I need the canada post small business account even if I'm not selling as part of a business?

I've been shipping FedEx, without incident.

Maybe not telling them what it is sure not legally you are doing it . All changed sept 2021

This is a reminder to all FedEx customers that firearms, weaponry and their parts are restricted when importing and exporting to/from Canada with FedEx Express® services and are prohibited when importing and exporting to/from Canada with FedEx Ground® services.

FedEx Express shipments of firearms to, from, or within Canada require prior notice to FedEx and the express written approval of FedEx. Such shipments are offered on a contract-only basis at the sole discretion of FedEx. Shipments containing firearms, weaponry and their parts will be refused without prior approval from FedEx.

Fed Ex is not a option in small centers, not that I would use them. Same with Loomis as I had a driver try to steal a colt pistol, it was found in his tool box.
Re Trade EX, I talked to Anthony a few times, they toss a rifle in a box and stick some tape on it.
But they are not using C.P., at least with me, his cost is about 20% of what I have to pay, with snap ship, Fuel tax went up again.
They have a contract with Courier Co.
I have never shipped in a plastic hard case in my life , unless the rifle came from the factory that way.
Been at it 40+ yrs , will it bit me ? Maybe if something happened to the box.

I have always informed them that its a firearm, they always approved it. Besides, why in the hell are these shipping companies refusing firearms?!?!

Is a good question!! I do not recall a rash of "bad things happened" stories - maybe someone's "make believe" or "what if" at work? But, I do know there are people who mail firearms with cartridges in the box, no doubt some have showed up with cartridges in the magazine or even in the chamber - it has happened here on a rifle carried in through my doorway - just because that particular person not too smart or something - but if it was my company, that one time would likely put the kibosh on that for me. Is not my company, so I have no say in the matter - but I can "vent", I guess.

Before sept 2021 ??? if so someone at fed x is not doing their job and if someone else from fedx sees it and knows the changes which every employee should now kiss it good bye
Cheers

This was the one that did it in the opinion of most . A few months later the change came

On Thursday, it happened again: a mass shooting in America. This time, a gunman killed eight people at a FedEx warehouse in Indianapolis.

Already, the shooting has led to demands for action. “10 Republican Senators — including Indiana’s @SenToddYoung & @SenatorBraun — decide whether we are going to do something about this deadly epidemic or continue to do nothing and live with this death every damn day.” the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence

But their problems started in 2018 when this was done due to their support for the nRA

In addition to refusing to accept all packages sent by FedEx, ATEi has also stated that they will no longer be shipping anything back to shops or consumers using FedEx. What happens if a customer's package is refused by ATEi? They have made the commitment that ATEi will provide a UPS call tag at no charge to any customer that has their package refused, all the customer needs to do is give ATEi a call and they will square them away.

With the current debate raging over gun control and companies supporting the NRA dropping like flies, I would hope that more players in our industry would stand up and make their position known. Some might view the refusal to use FedEx's services as a marketing stunt etc etc etc

I spoke to a firearms seller and they just send it in the original box stuck in a shipping box CP takes it

I don't think I live in a cave - I went on-line to refresh my memory of the Fed-Ex shooting - the perp started firing in the parking lot - then entered that facility and continued shooting. I guess I do not see the connection between shipping firearms and that event. Not as if a parcel went off or went nuts, not as if that perp had not been placed under "care" by his mother - but must have been a "feel good" "knee jerk" decision by Fed Ex that will do absolutely nothing to prevent a recurrence. What they handle, what they shipped, does not appear to have an iota to do with what occurred. Unless there is more to that story that was not reported ...

They were three years?? in battle prior for supporting the NRA and losing business in fact stopped giving breaks to NRA membership first on shipping which upset gun owners not knee jerking by any means
This event sealed the deal and they got out of firearm shipments 5 months later
Go back to 2018 and see the entire story

In the official release there was a line about improving the safety of their employees which is why it was done

I simply quit accepting and shipping guns. I don't need any more aggravation in what is left of my life. I believe we are entering a new era; an era in which we will surrender all freedoms for the perception of security. They can KMA.

Me also 2 yrs ago. All my guns go on consignment at me favorite, local dealer. Support yer LGS. ;) And yes, we are truely fooked thanks to UN Agenda 21. :(

I was wondering about this as well, and thought the case requirements were new. BUT I recently bought an MRA Renegade (in parts, no barrel), then a barrel from another business, neither were shipped in a plastic case.

Businesses dont have the same laws as an individual
