Jim Shockey said:
“The real question is, are we instruments of nature’s change? We’re part of change. We’re going to find out that nature has ways of dealing with problems,” he said.

Objecting to this fatalistic view, I protested. Look, I said, there is a mother just like me on the other side of the world. My house is not in danger. My kids have enough to eat. Hers don’t. How is this fair? How is this right?

“I’m only here because of luck,” I said.

“It’s not a matter of luck,” he said.

In your blood runs the survival abilities of your ancestors. Don’t dishonor them by calling it luck,” he said. “You’re here because of decisions they made. You're here as a product of the best of the best.

You are here because two people ####ed... if we (collecively) are the result of thedesisions of the best of the best... we are doomed.

I understand the sentiment.... but follow that logic through far enough and the blood of Ghengus Khan runs in all of us thanks to raping and pillaging....

The ends do not always justify the means.

That said. Good article. I always like hearing the thoughts of experienced hunters, and he is in a position to be an embassidor for the sport.

I just hate when people say we are progressing as a species... we are not. One generation can destroy the work of the previous... and humanity will likely be the thing that destroys our way of life, the species, and the planet.
