Shoot pellets out of your AR-15

Hassle or not, it is a offense.

Price: about $1200USD based on the pilkguns article. Not for casual use. Given the price, the one-shot-one-pull, the high-end barrel and muzzle device, and the PCB air system, this is a narrowly-targeted training tool for one type of competition: National Match.

It's not worth $1,200 that's for sure. If it were more reasonably priced it would be something you could definitely use in your basement or garage area for slow fire targed practice.

If you want to run around and go all "tactical" while at home an air soft would be a great idea.

As Acrashb said it is targeted to National Match Competitions they are pushing in the US at places like Camp Perry.

That'll create some retarded muscle memory/training scars for when you are actually in competition. Bang, rack/eject round, bang...etc...

I'm not much of an airsoft guy but, this rifle is $419.00 and you can play with it anywhere... I guess I don't see the sense in a $1200.00 restricted, single shot pellet gun...

here is the airsoft version of the H&K 416D...again $419.00, just sayin..

It is restricted by OIC. It (may) always be restricted, unless the CPC issues another OIC to change things. As for "always", an AR-15 lower is the gun, so no matter what other bits-and-pieces are or aren't attached (such as a pellet gun or crossbow upper), the assembly is restricted.

and you fire it in your basement just fine. unless you have a law that says airguns are not allowed to be discharged in your own home (like chilliwack).
since you are not using the live fire upper, you can plink away downstairs or I guess upstairs in some houses, all day long.

I read that they are working on a semi-auto version that would be more expensive...check the FAQ at bottom of this link.

FAQs

What velocity are you getting from these?

We do have some variation from lower to lower since each lower as its own unique hammer and hammer spring, but the guns themselves are pretty consistent within themselves. So far with the lowers we have sampled, we see them in the 520 fps- 580 fps range. They vary about 10 fps per gun, which is well within accuracy specs.

over 500 fps - does that not make it a 'firearm' in canada?

doesn't matter if it is at 2600fps, still a restricted firearm. but you can shoot it at home

Being able to spend 30mins a night firing perfect shots at reduced targets in my basement 7 days a week sounds like a good way to train. Then again what do I know, I waste time dry firing.

Anschutz makes a precision air rifle styled like an AR; about twice the price of the Crossman unit.

Have you guys looked at airsoft firearms as a viable training tool? I've recently purchased an airsoft rifle and pistol and they are amazingly realistic and i think make an awesome training tool...if nothing else they are just fun! You shoot reduced size targets at reduced ranges in your own garage or basement or where ever. Check out this page...

... and see how usefull airsoft can be for training.
