Bring what you want to play with and 120 rounds of ammo

We shoot at 100, 200 and 300 yards with a deliberate, Snap and Moving Target at each distance.

Any center fire rifle will work, even single shots.

Note: 100 is shot standing, so a 20X scope is not a good idea.

Winona is a DND range, just north of the QEW near Grimsby. Exit at the Fifty Road exit.

Crap, I don't know what to bring! I have a 91/30 sniper but using a scope just seems too obvious. Maybe a run of the mill mosin? Back to staring at the the gun locker.

Thanks for a great day, Ganderite!

What a great day. No rain, very light steady breeze and not too hot. Big turnout (about 32 shooters) and it looks like most could not make up their mind what rifle to shoot - so they brought several each.

We shot 100 standing and 300 yards prone. I saw one hunting rifle, a few modern service rifles and milsurps galore:

Martin-Enfiled shooting black powder
Lee Enfield #1 and #4
M-44
MN Sniper
SKS
CZ
SVT-40
M-17
K98
Garand
M14

I shot a scoped #4 and was very pleased with it.

At 300 we shot prone. Most of us used some kind of rest and quite a few shooters switched rifles. This was my 300 yard deliberate match target. 10 shots in 5 minutes. Rifle was a #4 with a scope. Load was 150gr & 44gr 4895.

It was a good time! Had some minor feed problems with the rifle i used in the 100 shoot as you can see in the pics but nothing major. My gawd, when did I get so fat?

Some target puller sure failed the IQ test on this one.....

Black on black.....

;)

Looks like everyone had a great day!

The biggest issue was that the grey patches didn't stick so well. Some of us decided part way through that a black patch that stayed on was probably better than a grey one that fell off leaving an "extra" bullet hole. That aside what a fabulous day. Thanks to Jim for organizing the event and a thanks to Ron our RSO for his contribution. The turn out may have overwelmed the facilities due to the calibre restrictions on part of the range but I'm sure fun was had by all even with the modified course of fire.

I though I recognised you from some old pics you posted a while back but I couldnt be sure. Are you the guy who was to the left of my target frame having a conversation about milsurp aircraft parts, wearing sunglasses?
