Hmmm.At the velocities you are getting (very low) and with the 8" twist, your bullets are barely stable. I have shot 115's from actual 8" twists (Smith) and had them keyhole at MV's of 2750 fps at 300M. I needed to go to 7.5 to make them work, and a 6 X 47 Swiss match. (XC and laupa would do it fine) Frankly, I always got better results just using the 105's and with the 105 hybrid being superior to the 115 in BC I would have no reason to bother with 115's anymore.

Everyone's different. I have a 28" barrel and get 2950fps easily. No primer marks, no sticky bolt lift, only had to trim once. I've up to 5 reloads and haven't had to bump the shoulder yet.

I have had more 6BR barrels over the years than I can remember and while with 105's I could get to about 2950 with a 30" barrel, I always, always had best precision at no more than 2900 using primarily VLD bullets. I used Sierras, Lapuas, Bergers, and even Amax and never had a BR load that liked going faster than 2900. There is another sweet spot at about 3000 but it takes a bigger case to get you there. I know people that have said they can get them to run at 2950 and do fine with them. I must just have bad mojo or something.

Interesting how for most people the 105's work the best. In my 6mmBR though the magic pill is the 108g Berger BT. Just confirming that every gun/barrel combo is different.

My very low velocity barely stable ballisticly inferior bullets in my barrel with to slow of twist and that's to short seem to shoot fantastic 100yrd, 300yrd, 800yrd,and 1000yrd so I don't know what else you want me to tell you.

Here is my 5 shot 100yrd group that i shot today because it was to windy to set the chronograph up at 300yrd the way our local range is laid out. Good enough for me.

If i was really worried about velocity I could switch from N-150 to N-540 or N-550 and get another 100fps no problem. That or add more N-150 seeing as i'm loading less powder then book max anyways but........ if it aint broken don't try to fix it

glad to hear you are getting results, but your results are so far into what I would call anomalous that I would never suggest anyone devote much time or expense trying to duplicate the results. I have devoted a great deal of time experimenting with 115's as have many of my friends and customers. Your results are not typical with your components.

Based on what I have found I would probably recommend someone to give it a try. Three different rifles same good results. Why not let them try it out for them selves.

Every bullet has some good and some not as good things about it but unless you give it a try how do you really know or your self.

I have great luck with the 105 also berger or lapua. also the 90gr. I even have good luck shooting 80gr nosler ballistic tips out to 800 if its not to windy.

I don't think i have had a 6br that wont shoot basically anything you throw at it with go0d results. I have even used 55gr flat base bullets for shooting gophers and they work good also with some N-120

At the F-Class Championships in Bisley, 2000, a Canadian cleaned up shooting a 6 BR. Just about all others were shooting a 6.5-284 (including my wife).

I thought his wheels would fall off at 1000. They didn't.

I promptly built a 6BR for myself. So far, it sucks. Sigh....

I consider 6mmBR.com to be a very reliable resource with lots of great info. From what I read on their web site my results are not anomalous at all....... They seem to feel that a 8 twist will stabalize 115gr bullets in most conditions.

What Barrel Twist Should I Use? The most versatile barrel twist rate is 1:8". This will shoot everything from 62gr FB bullets to 107 VLDs with great accuracy. If you shoot mostly at 100-200 yards, a 1:14 twist will deliver 60-70gr match bullets with unrivaled accuracy. Take-off 1:14 6PPC barrels rechambered to 6BR work great at low cost. For shooting out to 600 yards, in calm conditions, you may get best accuracy with custom 75-85gr FB bullets. These work best in a 1:12 twist tube. A 12-twist is perfect for varminting with the 75-grain V-max and the Berger 80gr MEF. Our initial testing shows the 1:10 twist to be very effective with the new low-drag 85-88gr FB bullets, and 90gr boat-tails. The 1:10 twist is a great choice for varminting and Egg Shoots because you can run the 87gr Hornady V-Max and shoot Lapua's very accurate 90gr factory-loaded ammo. If you need a barrel to shoot both light and heavy bullets, the best choice is still a 1:8. For the 115gr DTAC bullet, 1:8 will stabilize in most conditions, but 1:7 is a better bet.

My 28" Kreiger barrel is 7.5 twist and it shoots very accurate with Berger 105gr Hybrid Target Match.
I thought it will fall apart because it is too fast but it didn't. Shot 800 yards to 1000 yards a few times and it is pretty good.

Thanks for sharing....... making me homesick! Born in Alberta and spent the first 27 years of my life in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Some of the most spectacular scenery available in Canada!!!

If you are inclined to try (and I am all for experimentation) and can get 115's to work that is great. I just can't see why you would unless you have a good supply of 115's to burn up. The 105 Hybrid from Berger has a higher BC and can be pushed much faster. I have shot many tens of thousands of 6BR rounds for 15+ years, and thousands of those have been on my family's fields out to a mile many many times. It is an amazing cartridge and damned easy to make work well.

Okay, 115gr Berger, bad bad bad............... moving on.....

How far do you think a guy can accuratly shoot a 6BR with berger 68gr FB in a 26" 12 twist barrel 31gr IMR 4064 going 3,300fps ??
