Is it safe to shoot .22cal (short) CBs in a SA revolver (Heritage Rough Rider) that shoots .22 LR (and with a separate cylinder, .22 magnums.)?

If you are looking to have a quiet round, don't waste your time. The barrel is too short.

I have shot CB Longs with my Ruger Single Six and found them pretty lame, good enough for close target. I now use CCI Standard Velocity .22LR with no lead build up like I had with the hotter Blazer.
Here is a picture of my gun:

Thanks everybody for your input.
My worry was that the shorts' rims would be sitting at the back end of the cylinder's chambers, but the actual (shorter than usual) bullets would be farther away from the barrel entrance itself and would travel a few millimeters in the cylinder before entering the barrel (possibility of slight tumbling?) while for the regular 22 LRs, the chambered bullet is practically kissing the barrel.

Noise is really a secondary item. I shoot at a range and ear protection is always ON.

What I'm doing is
a) breaking in my Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR 6.5" barrel
b) breaking in my GSG 1911 HV (I won't even try lowe velocity ammo in it)

After firing a few hundred rounds through each and boresighting my metal sights,
I will then try shooting a variety of the different .22cals LRs and try to find out
which ammo is liked by each gun.

Breaking in barrels is a myth. Clean it and shoot it.

Thanks :)

I've been cleaning it since the 31st of December to the 17th of Jan (what with range preempting and sickness).

Tomorrow I'm using the steel bench and sandbag to try to sight-in.
I'm a bit disappointed that the rear sight is "adjustable" by loosening the hex screw and gently, very gently nudging the whole sight left or right. I'll wait a bit before replacing the rear sight with a clickable adjustable one.

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, if you worry about round doesn't fill the length of the chamber, why can't you use .22 CB long?

They were out of stock of that particular caliber.

I originally purchased 100 rounds of each .22cal they had,
in the hope of finding out which caliber each handgun "liked" best.

The only .22 version I can't use (as per gun club rules) is .22 magnums (even though I have a cylinder for them.)
