Shooting a Magpie

180 posts, but I only read the first 10 or so.

I don't care what the OP did or why, but why did he post about it? What was the objective - Kudos? I think not, so why all the surprise and indignation?

We all know that wounding is an unfortunate part of all types of hunting.
One we all strive to avoid, usually successfully.
The OP ended suffering as quickly as he could. He did the right thing.
What's the problem?

my only problem was this
When I took aim it was very quick while I was standing up and breathing hard thus the crosshairs were floating all around the place on the target. I was surprised I hit it.
that was it

it's just been drilled into me since i was very little that you don't shoot at an animal you're as close to 100% as you can be that you can hit it in the vitals

An aboriginal broadcasting station obtained a video of caribou hunting.
A caribou had been gutshot and its entrails were hanging out. It was still on its feet, and was trying to escape. It was tripping over its own intestines. This caused even more entrails to be pulled out, the intestines being entangled in its hooves.
The manager refused to allow the video to be aired. The others thought it was really funny.
Just because something happened doesn't make it worth broadcasting.
A magpie with its beak shot off is less dramatic, but what is the point?

Im going to guess the op has not shot allot of animals. new to the sport and wanted to talk about it.

I missed a ton of this post but s**t happens. and to the seckond post.... of course hes not gona eat a magpie. there is no tasty pie in them.

If you can say u never shot a squirrel or bird and left it. than either u have never gone in the woods as a kid, or are a lire.

This is awesome...

the back handed comments, the bold faced lies, the straight up "I'm better than you" mentality,

I only have one problem... true hunters don't use rifles... you should have combat crawled under the magie and stabbed it with a knife made from your own finger nails, hair and ear wax. Then and only then, do you truely meet the internet standards that have been set out for us to meet.

Or perhaps it should have been given the "stare of death" until it succumbed on it's own accord...

Last night on the way home from the states I saw a beaver trying to cross the highway so I swerved to hit it. I ran it over, and left. If anyone would like to go find it to eat it, I can provide directions. :stirthepot2:
