I'm hoping to shoot a match in the US in the next 2-3 months, and want to make sure I have everything in order. What things do i need to know/have?

Ontario ATT to the border.
BATF Form 6

Letter/confirmation from the hosting club???

Any restrictions on Ammo ? (same # of rounds in/out?, reloads vs factory?)

I have a US CCW (if it helps any??)

Should I get an us hunting licence for an extended form 6???

Thanks!!

Every time I've gone down, they wanted to see the Form 6 and a copy of the match flyer at the border; they may or may not want to see the ammo you're transporting, though.

Most times they just ask if I have a Form6 and then wave me through...
I thnk maybe once or twice they actually looked at it.

Your ammo should be on the 2nd page of the form 6, there is no limit stated so be sure you have specified enough.
The form 6 is good for 1 year from issue so all you need is a match invite, a copy of your registration will usually do.

I have a booklet i keep the following...

1. ATT to border
2. Form 6, some say getting a hunting license makes getting the form 6 easier. The Form 6 also states the firearms i have and ammo needed. I put 1000 rds per firearm
3. Hunting Lic. (North Dakota)
4. Match Invitations
5. Registrations and PAL
6. Maps of ranges, etc...

you need to get your form 6NIA approved first before you get your border ATT also www.losttarget.com has all your US to Canada and Canada to US information also http://www.losttarget.com/quebec/canada/f53303dMAR.pdf will give you a fillable ATF Form 6 NIA pdf so it will look pretty and such when you fax it off... Make sure you delete WWW.LOSTTARGET.COM at the top of the form or it will be rejected... just hit the delete button.

I get an Alaska Hunting license cause I don't have an Ontario Hunting license as is required by North Dakota. both will allow you to print up a license as soon as you purchase it... no need to wait there...

Then fax it to ATF (304) 616-4551 they will fax it back to you. if fax fails they will mail it (so make sure you fax is ready to receive).. I sent my Form 6 in on Friday Dec 19th and I was faxed an approved Form6NIA on the 22nd of December 2006... so Faxing does quicken the process.

Hope this helps.
