Shooting a Ruger 1

Righto, it never really had my Concern until now

i watched a Youtuber grip a big line up of Big Bore Ruger 1s, an all the time he held his hand over the LEver, as in to hold it closed------

Generally i grip with pistol grip and use index finger, on the trigger.......... but being a Falling block action, an only a fairly small "locking" clip for said Lever, is it Normal to hold hand over lever??

I hold like normal....the "lever" is just fine on its own....

There is no need to hold the lever down... if there was, it would be considered a "serious" design flaw.

I have owned and shot No.1's in;

.375 H&H
.405 Win
.416 Rigby
.45/120
.458 WM

None of which required holding down the lever.

^^this! No need to hold down. If needed the gun is broke.

No need to hold it down, and I owned one that spat out 500 grain bullets at 2450 fps.

I never had issues with my ones including me old No 3.s. Recoil is rude in the 45-70 No 3's to say the least when tossing 500-535 gr cast loads.
