Shooting an sks with the bayonet out.

I was out shooting my sks today and everything was great ding ding ding , I started getting pricked by the bayonet from the re coil, not holding on tight enough, and decided to put out the bayonet.
Instantly I couldn't hit anything, bullets going so high, not even hitting the ground behind target. So I moved the bayo back and instantly ding ding ding back to normal.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same results.
 
SKS are supposed to be sighted in with the bayonet extended as this dampens harmonic and make the firearm ready for suicide charge into machine gun counter fire.
 
When you extend the bayonet, the SKS senses you have gone into spray and pray mode, with a human wave charge about the ensue. By folding the bayonet back in, the SKS senses you have returned to MAXIMUM ACCURACY mode.

Sight in the rifle properly for whatever position/configuration bayo wise that you usually shoot. My most accurate sks shooter I have the bayo taken off , then sighted in bayoless. I believe through kinda rudimentary testing that the accuracy gains by removing the bayo are negligible at best but I like the drop in weight and like the feel more kinda without the bayo.

Also there’s a third option with the bayo , straight down and dug into the grass as a monopod lol.
 
My bayo is opened so I can stab it in the ground for cleaning, funnel hot water into the barrel and it runs right out onto the ground. It does work for roasting hot dogs over the fire as well, but the Chinese work best for this.
 
I zero all of my SKS's with the bayonet closed.

I figure that should I ever need to use the bayonet in a life or death situation, whatever it is that's trying to kill me is already close enough to shoot without the sights.

Besides if it's far enough away for iron sights, I sure as hell ain't gonna charge it with a bayonet.

You could buy a spare bayonet, measure group size with bayo extended, the cut 1" at a time off the spare bayo to find the sweet spot, then cut your bayo to that length. You could then compete internationally with your harmonically enhanced long range target system.
 
I dig the monopod idea (no pun intended) Ive done that tons of times. I have a bubba'd sks without bayo and mil-issue with and have different shooting styles for both.
