Shooting and drinking?

With all the prescription meds out there, and their side effects, you never know what the guy next to you has circulating through his body.

Big time. I know more pill poppers than illeagle drug users. Prescribed, narcotic, mind altering, lawfully distributed drugs. Heck, I know a doctor that will prescribe t3 and worse for headaches at the drop of a hat. Sad really. My brother, the party animal, says the strongest, craziest drugs he's ever done, were the ati-depressants his doctor prescribed.

At Target Sports they have a Christmas Members Appreciation day where there is drinking and everyone is given a bracelet. You can shoot all you want but when you have your first drink the bracelet is cut off/removed and you are no longer allowed to shoot. Simple and easy!

I think it's a fair question. I play hockey and after the game it's nice to sit down and have a cold beer. I don't think the original poster was asking about getting drunk while shooting, but a relaxing drink with your shooting partners after before you go your separate ways. Well, that's the way I took it.

unless you walk to the range, its not good in the eyes of the police to drink and drive. can any of you that have to have a drink tell me how maney you can have and drive with out 12hr suspension .
I don't have to drink but then again I am not a member of the Womens Christian Termperance Union. And the answer to your question is yes.

This is a fair question. There are lots of legit replies on the topic. If you don't have anything constructive to add, kindly don't reply.

Thanks,
Brad.

not sure about you guys, but if I have a beer or two, i dont all of a sudden turn into a blithering idiot and lose all control of myself not knowing where I am pointing things and whether a gun is loaded or not.

As polled on the popular internet forum, CanadianGunNutz.com, many users indicated that they thought consumption of alcohol while engaged in shooting activities was absolutely permissible. With the impending removal of the long gun registry, such drunk and irresponsible shooters - who represent the majority of respondents - will no longer be traceable when they mistakenly shoot at a kindergarten on "pet a kitten" day.

Just giving you a preview of tomorrow's paper. Thanks for giving them a byline though.

who said I partake in shooting drunk, but playing a devils advocate, whats the problem with a beer or two?

You may be singing its a beautiful day in the neighborhood, as you double lock your .22, but there will never be the Mr.Rogers image across the board, so dont get stressed out over it. There are men representing every class here as gun owners, and men in every class that have a social drink or two before taking out a clay pigeon, or putting a hole in a piece of paper. There are men that cant write, and men that have Ph.d's.

I agree with you, 460v... I'm just saying that the anti's will take even a hint that someone had a beer within 60 minutes of handling a firearm, one time long ago, and turn it into "drunken gun use is on the rise; registry necessary to prevent baby panda killings by alcoholic redneck KKK members." ;)

I think the one thing we can ALL agree on is that excessive alcohol impairs one's judgement in ALL things - driving, shooting, and picking out "company" when the lights come on and the music turns off at 2 a.m.! :D

Lock up the guns, leave the range, and meet at a lounge or sports bar. Talk gun's n schitt while munching on hot wings and draft.

While I don't drink and shoot myself, I don't see any more of a problem with having a beer and plinking than I see with having a beer and operating a lawn mower. Unless of course you feel one beer affects your judgement and ability to operate either. Then the answer would be no.

If you can't make that call on your own, it should come as no surprise that there are many out there that would be more than happy to make rules for you......

So what's stopping some psycho at a golf course ,going into the club house, getting drunk, and using a 3-iron on some guys skull? That's the way the cavemand did it! Just saying that in this age of instant gratification, guns are villifiedand golf is glorified, and adding alcohol makes either passtime potentially lethal.

I saw a guy get run over by a golf car. Alcohol was believed to be a factor.
