Hey guys, just curious if any of you have experience shooting left-handed. I am interested in switching to the AR style andc have heard that the Norc M4 may send spent brass back into the face of left handed shooters. I have shot the Smith & Wesson MP15 and the Colt C8 with no issues. Any issues with a DA.556 or any other manufactured units?
Thx for reading.

Not true about the Norc, at least as far as my experience has been. I've got a 10.5 in model, and have never gotten brass in my face from it. As long as the upper has a deflector, you should be fine.

Hmm, thx. Was just looking at one of those units on the EE and the seller was having that problem shooting left-handed. It was a 14.5 inch barrelled unit but as you say, if there is a deflector on the upper it wont matter what barrel is on it. Thanks.

That's me......yay honourable mention.

I have cuts on my right cheek and burns on my neck to prove my 14.5" Norc bit back hard.

Lol, sorry, wasn't trying to throw you under the bus here!!! I like the price point of the Norc and Dominion Arms units but if this is an issue, they are no good for me then. Thanks for chiming in.

Your not throwing me under the bus at all. If anything I welcome people sharing information I give them to better there knowledge and help make a decision when it comes to a purchase.

I've shot many other North American made AR's and this is the first that's bit me.

PS, she's sold now. ;)

If an AR is throwing brass into a lefty shooter's face, it is an issue with the ejection pattern, not the brand of AR.
I would look at the dwell (heavier buffer or adding a carrier weight) to adjust cycling as part of a diagnosis, and perhaps look at your extractor & ejector too.

My norc did the same before it was broken in and loosened up a bit. Buy a 3bucc brass catcher if its a worry. I run them on everything, because I hate cleaning up brass... I pick up enough stuff that others leave on the ground...

Good info. Thx.

Why do you think the Norc would be any different than any of the other AR rifles?

As to your question, I have about 28 years experience shooting all kinds of different AR platform rifles left handed and have never once taken a case in the face. The AR is perfect for left handed shooters just as it was originally designed.

stag, problem solved.

A solution to a non-existent problem.

I shoot my ARs left handed. Never had issues with getting brass in my face. You can always pickup a Stag LH upper if you must have a left ejecting upper.

:)

Now I have them in all 3 mounting styles plus have extra mounting blocks, so I can switch the catchers between uppers in seconds. They're slick. Wish I had one for the m305 and particularly the Garand, which DOES bounce brass off my head routinely!

I've got a big head...

Where did yoi get those brass catchers from? My m305 usually pushes the brass out at about a 90° angle and makes a mess.
