Is it OK to shoot CB shorts in a gun chambered for LR? I have a Marlin 7000 and was wondering if I could use them in the back yard. I realize they would not cycle the bolt and would have to be fed one at a time.

I would think the issue would be leading and crap in the chamber. I do it all the time :)

Just takes longer to clean afterwards....oh and I ALWAYS clean before switching to full power/full length rounds.

KDX, .22 shorts will not chamber or cycle correctly in your 7000.

For using these rounds I have an old Cooey for playing with the squirrels. (Stealth mode)

OR.... Use CB caps in the Long rifle form and hand cycle the action.

They will probbably work better for bolt actions, but you might still be able to cycle them with a semi-auto.
My suggestion is to just buy a box and see how it shoots.

cci shorts work beautifully in a bolt action; single feed one at a time but you could pop squirrels in your backyard all day and wouldn't cause any fuss. use them in my savage bv mark II. made the boys at the range come over and see what i was shooting because they couldn't hear a thing.
