There was a thread a while back IIRC about this upcoming auction. Ian from Forgotten Weapons got a chance to shoot the actual revolver that's going up for sale here.

I also know we have a CGN member who met Mr. Keith and might have seen this piece up close and personal.

Enjoy

In the mid 70's, I had the good fortune to meet and visit him for a day at his home in Salmon Idaho.

My avatar is a photo I took as I was preparing to leave. His personal side arm, the model 29 is one of a few of his firearms I was lucky enough to handle and chat about.

It goes without saying, my #1 favorite handgun is my somewhat similar model 29, with S&W factory ivory grips.

To more accurately complete the 'ensemble', I contacted Milt Sparks for a replica copy of Elmers holster. Actually, for safety and liability reasons, the present model has a covered trigger guard area but they agreed to make mine a copy of Keiths.

Another Keith 'item' I've acquired fairly recently, and my only 'Safe Queen', an Elmer Keith Commemorative. A safe queen so far but I've been thinking I may run a cylinder full through it every year on the anniversary of his Birthday.

Those are great pics!

Thanks for sharing them

He needs Jerry to teach him how to grip a .44 :d

(or .41, or whatever...)

If you've done any reading on EK's life, you'd see he shot just fine with the grip he used. I've never seen Jerry shoot his 44 at 800 yards, or at airborne moving targets. Or at targets that shot back. Not to take anything away from Jerry, he's an awesome competition shooter...but Elmer Kieth and Ed McGivern where in a different world.

:)A different day & age to be sure. In a lot of what they accomplished, they led the way. SixGuns by Keith as well as Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting by Ed. McGivern are both examples telling of what was and could be accomplished.

Pretty sure he is referring to Ian. in terms of Elmer, Ed and Jerry, they are all icons in their own way and for different reasons. hard to put one above the other.
