Heya folks
I have this Win M88 in 358w that shoots so far to the left that I have to lay my face over the comb when the irons are aligned.
I understand improper stock torque can affect natural barrel whip, but, everything lines-up true after messing with the variables and resulted in no improvement.
So what do I do now?

Thanks aplenty

Dwayne

Take part of the adjustment on the front sight and part on the back sight. It wouldn't surprise me if your barrel was bent. Let a gunsmith check that out and hit it with a hammer. Honestly.

"...lay my face..." Quit doing that and figure out what's wrong with the rifle. Start by looking closely at the sights. Rear sights get adjusted in the direction you want the group to go, front sights in the opposite direction. Centre 'em.
Look at the barrel channel on the stock. Is it touching anywhere on the right? Look for a screw that's in too far too.
Then put a straight edge on the barrel. That'll tell you if the barrel is bent. Possible but not likely.

Ammunition is not the cause of this no matter how old it is...

Get it to a gunsmith for inspection and opinion.

Not enough facts in your post.

Did it suddenly do this? Is this a 'new' rifle to you? Is it factory or re barreled? How does it shoot with a scope?

If it is shooting as far to the left as you claim, it would appear it must be a bent barrel.
If it is that far out, it should be very easy to see the bend.
If this is so, I would work on straightening it, myself.

You folks are great!!
To answer some, I know this unit had a hard life as it lived with my bud's dad from birth and I gots the grits. It had a good beating throughout its life, but not barrel bending abuse, like driving over or used as a pry-bar etc... I do thank you's for the bent barrel suggestion because, thats what it is. The barrel (not bent as far as I can tell), is going left from the receiver-proper.
Now, I have to figure out a good smith in my area--another post in the "smithing" I guess.
Thankyou to all, I must say.

Dwayne
