After reading all these posts on IPSC, IDPA, CDPA, PPC it can be very confusing.

Is there any possible way to make a sticky as to help out the newb wanting to get involved in these sorts of games or how to become a member in the association of their choice? Maybe even showing the difference between all the above associations, the costs involved, which cater to the newb, etc.

I will do my own research on these, and am not looking for others to do the work for me, but I think it would be nice. This is to appease the "do a search" people. :D

What kind of help do you need?
Go to your club and try all the sports. I do not know what kind of gear you have. But take what you have and try all the shooting sports. If you do not have all the gear you need most of the time some one Will help you out with loaning what you are short or even let you try there gear.

The biggest thing you should remember go into each sport with a open mind. Do not get caught up in all the my sport is better then the other sport.

You never know you might like them all or none at all.

What part of Ontario?

I am pretty sure that the IPSC is done there for the year. The guy that is in charge of IPSC there is a good guy. He easy to talk to, just let him know that you are new and interested in shooting IPSC he will help you out.

You can check out Brantford , Burlington and Wentworth they all shoot IPSC indoors in the winter. And are fairly close to you.

I do not know to much about IDPA , PPC and CDPA up your area. Talk to the people in the above clubs they should help you out

GPST is Wednesday evenings at Target sports in Gormley, just north of T.O. You can check out the indoor version if IPSC there if you like. Ask for me and I'll answer any questions or point you at the right person/s who can if I can't.

Mobile1....I'm from near Essex and was wondering if you know anything about cowboy action shooting? Is there any clubs around that shoot it near us? I love my leaver action rifles and am always looking for another excuse to shoot them.

Thanks
Tim

I heard that they shot Cowboy Action at the Kingsville Club but haven't been able to get ahold of anyone there. Do you have a website or contact for the Trails end Club?

Thanks
Tim

How many mag pouches are necessary for an IDPA shoot? I just want to know how many I should purchase.

You can only wear 2 mags behind the hip, but you also have one in the gun (3 total). And if you shoot a revolver you can wear 2 speedloaders or mmoonclip holders in front of the hip + 1 behind the gun.

There are only 3 IDPA affiliated clubs in Canada at this time.

Check out the IDPA web site at www.idpa.com

Are there any clubs affiliated with CDPA, or is CDPA the same as IDPA, just Canadian?

CDPA never was, and never will be aligned with IDPA.

There are a number of clubs that shoot CDP (as it's now called). Smith Falls (always good matches).

It doesn't matter to me whether there is an official affiliation or not. I was just looking for clubs that organize or stage IDPA/CDPA type defensive pistol games.
