Shooting glasses?

I had a pair of Randolph Ranger XLW. They were decent. Found the All American model by LM Lenses to be much better. The frames were lighter, fit better and the lenses much clearer.

I had a 3 lens set of L&A All Americans, which I found to be very good glasses for the money. But I took the plunge and bought Pillas. The Pillas are amazing, but of course expensive so if price/value is a consideration I'd look at L&A or Rangers.

Anyone know why none of these shooting glasses Pilla, Randolph, or Decots are ANSI Z87 rated?

The Randolphs claim their lensed will withstand a 12 gauge target load a 10yds. So is it something other than impact resistance why they are ANSI rated?

How important is this rating for shotgun and rifle shooting?

Thanks

Ive been using Allen glasses the last few years. Four different lense colours to choose from. The pink is my go to lenses for skeet. The lenses don't fog and don't scratch easily.

3M / Peltor SecureFit 400
They are light, do not fog up very much, and are certified for impact resistance ANSI Z87.1-2010
Only about $10 from Amazon, and they last 2-4 years easily.

I use shot glasses.

And on the other hand ...

When I was getting kitted up for AFG I was given the prescription inserts for the issue Ballistic Eyewear (made by Revision). The frames were being bent by the eyeshields, and changing the correction. I got massive headaches. Tried the S inserts in the XL frames, but still the same problem. The solution was a pair of dorky industrial safety glasses and some old-man over-the-top noncorrective sunshields. It was a pain to manage around helmet straps and in/out of bright light. Almost worth getting laser surgery.

However, for prone rifle shooting I have a pair of Champion shooting glasses. The dispensing optician called them an apparatus. Three large lens holders - on aim, down at the notebook and left eye for the spotting scope.

Do you need prescription? I don’t know any dealers in NB there is at least one in Ontario.

Give Ranger a call or email. Super friendly folks. They’ll point you to a dealer or take an order directly.

I always buy direct.

I live in the GTA could you advise a dealer and does Ranger sell prescription lenses directly? I wear progressive lenses and do not know if shooting glasses can be made to accommodate the prescription? Thanks.

I live in Medicine Hat, so no help there. However, my optometrist was able to order progressive shooting glasses for me. She even adjusted to focal length for the near-sight to allow me to see my pistol sights better.

I have had no luck with Lenscrafter optometrist ... funny look that's about it.

I deal with Wayne Morgan of Morgan optical . He's I. The Buffalo area so that might. E an option for people in the GTA. I just call in my prescription and 2 weeks later they arrive. I use Randolph Rangers.
