So I started trap shooting a while ago and am looking to get some glasses, I am not really into the looks of the Decot or RE glasses or the price. Is there something that looks a bit "Better" and is cheaper, but still being able to change lens colors? Im having a hard time finding much online.

Randolph Engineering are worth it. They offer distortion free visibility. The looks are standard shooting glass ugly but it works. I had no luck with cheap glasses and after my third different pair of hunting/shooting interchangeable lens glasses, I caved and bought some RE off of ebay. They have met all my shooting needs and then some, I'm not looking to win fashion contests I'm looking to break as many targets as possible. When a round costs $12, I don't want to miss a target because I couldn't see it.

I would agree, spend the money now, because I bet the money you spend on cheaper glasses will be wasted as you will end up with better quality in the end anyway. I also have RE's and love them, but there are a few similarily priced shooting glasses that I would bet will all give you similar service.

Make sure whatever you buy has the safety ratings you need, as any price is cheap compared to loosing your eyesight. Second they need to be comfortable so you leave them on your face where they belong. Lastly decide how serious you are about wanting to see the targets. I have changed to contacts, and spent a very long time learning how to put them in, so that i didn't have to worry about the optical center of prescription shooting glasses. You know your financial situation, and how serious you are better then I do, but if you are serious, and can afford it somehow, buy top quality, you won't regret it, you will end up spending the money anyway.

I think I am going to go look at some Oakley Radar or Flak Jacket. I found online that a lot of shooters are using these as the glass have high safety ratings and they make a lot of different color lenses, some specifically for shooting.

I use the Rudy Project glasses and bought the Rydon shooting kit which has five different lenses and added in prescription lenses. Great glasses but pricey...IMO well worth the cash.

Do you want real shooting glasses for Clay Games or just something that looks cool? If you want real shooting glasses check out Decot.

I have used Oakleys and Hidefspex, no question you get what you pay for. I like the Oakley SI M Frames, $235ish for a 3 lens set, good quality. The Hidefspex where a whole different experience, the clarity and color was amazing, clays glow and their ballistic videos are impressive to say the least, so is the $700 price tag.

These are fabulous: h ttp://www.revisionmilitary.com/product/sawfly/ you can buy replacement lenses separately as well when needed plus prescription inserts

Around $149.00

I said in original post that I don't like the looks or price of Decots etc, and I don't like how they fit either. Hence why I am asking about other options that don't look so ugly for 300$ and still do the job.

IF these glasses are for trap shooting, you have 2 choices only.

1. Wear dorky looking Decot or RE's, and be able to see the birds very well, because there is no frame across the top of the lenses to block your vision of the bird. There is also almost no obstructions across the bridge of the nose. 3mm spread on most Decots.

2. Wear some cool looking shades like Oakley Flaks or others with a frame that runs across the top of the lenses, and not see the birds leave the house. You get to play catch up once you have lifted you head off of the stock to see where the bird went.

When I started shooting trap, I bought 3 pairs of $30.00 Beretta branded shooting glasses. Like these:

One in clear, one in orange, and one in vermillion(above). They were comfy and didn't look too grandfatherish, but would fog up on me on very hot humid days.

YMMV

PS, I shoot wearing Decots (black frames) now, and wouldn't try to compete wearing anything else.

Somehow I don't care what I look like now when I am smashing 97/100's in singles and 47-48's/50 in doubles. For some reason, they haven't helped out my scores in caps yet ;).

There is a reason those top dogs all wear Decots or similar shaped and styled eyewear.

I could care less what my glasses look like, if the targets keep breaking. I am still using a pair of 30+ year old, out of style Bushnell shooting glasses, because they work for me. That being said, I am looking into purchasing a pair of Ranger Classics, because they are lighter, and I would like more choices in lenses. As to looking stylish, I will leave that to the people on the golf course.

What do you guys think of the RE XLW? They look alright. I don't really care what I look like, I was just wondering if there was anything better looking that performed as well. Sounds like there really isn't, which is kind of sad that there is only 2 options lol.
