Shooting Glasses

I would say a good 80-90+ percent of ontario skeet shooters have gone to pilla/hidefspex, including myself.

I like that the lenses wrap around and are virtually distortion free, I look fairly far back to the houses and with the rangers, sometimes I was looking at the edge of the lens, annoying!

I have the hornets I think that what they're called. I like them, wish they had the around the ear arms instead of the straight arms. Oh well...

I still have my rangers, but haven't used them since trying out the pilla's. Only color not available for my frames right now and would like to have is purple.

Oh well, don't NEED them.

The pilla stuff is expensive, but as the age old adage goes, you get what you pay for. I still like my rangers.

^^ I am definitely not spending 1000$ on glasses haha. I will make due with something else before that happens.

I paid around 500 for my hornets with three colours.

If you find a pair of sunglass frames at a optometrist's the can take a clear plano lens and dip it into different tints until you get the color you want.

Likely a lot cheaper than some of the other options and perhaps a little more fashionable.

But I have to be honest, no one really looks good, in any shooting glasses and who cares, it's not a fashion show.

Rangers are likely you're best out of the box answer, 150 for frames and 35 per colour except for the cmt's($69) and copper polarized (which I wouldn't buy, $99)

What do you guys think of the RE XLW? They look alright. I don't really care what I look like, I was just wondering if there was anything better looking that performed as well. Sounds like there really isn't, which is kind of sad that there is only 2 options lol.

I have the Ranger XLW and am very happy with them. They are distortion free and as I mentioned previously were much better then any of the cheaper hunting/shooting wrap style glasses.

I got them, from eBay from ariannescloset. They have the falcons on sale which maybe more to your taste. I bought the XLW with 3 lens set from her for $240.
I think they come direct from the factory. The factory web site sells direct for very similar prices.

I looked and it seems Ebay is once again the cheapest route. You get glasses and 3 lenses for the same price as frame and 2 lenses directly from Randolph. So it looks like I will be ordering from there probably. Yeah I always try to avoid UPS as they are the biggest gougers, USPS is great and just as fast.

I just ordered a set of Ranger Edges from the dealer in Comox. The same prices as on the Randolph site but in Canadian funds, and shipped from Canada.

I picked up a pair of Elvex OVR Yellow Lens Fit Over Safety Glasses and am happy with them. I wear prescription glasses and these fit over them nicely. I don't always wear them when shooting but am certain to be wearing them when reloading or testing new loads in my rifle.

George could cut the end off of coke bottles, and tie them on with string, and they would seem to work as well....

Don't confuse endorsement with function. 8 )

Brad.

Get the pilla panthers if you have the $$ can't go wrong

Smith Optics: http://www.smithoptics.ca
you can get a nice pair with a case and a extra set of lenses for 80$

If you are looking to go a bit cheaper, find some Oakley M-frames on Ebay. Lots of lenses to chose from. I shot in persimmon and G30 lenses for years.... and so did an Olympic gold medalist.

The requirement for Rx has me back to decots.

I just received my Ranger Edge glasses from Claytime Shooting School out of Comox. Both the price and the service were very good, and I like the glasses.

Wow...lots of options to consider!

What's a good "entry level" priced glass for Trap/Skeet?? And how much are we talking?
