It's time to chuck the rolled carpet and get a rifle case/mat combo, or at least a new mat that will hold some gear. Any recomendations? Thanks, Mark

I have used one from Midway USA that a buddy bought. They are still onsale and it was very comfy with extra padding in high friction zones. If I was in the market I would buy one in a heartbeat for that price.

X3 for centerthegroup.
Case/mat combos seem like a good idea until you have to take all the crap out of the pockets to get a nice flat shooting surface.

I have an Armalite AR50 case that makes a pretty good mat. You can see it at Armalite site.....the black one.

PM if you would be interested in it......one of these days I'll get around to taking a pic and listing it in EE......

I use two brands - Voodo Tactical and Condor. The Condor is a cheaper but very similar product to the once made by Eagle whille the VT has additional pockets etc for a spotting scope and other such items. Both were relatively inexpensive, purchased online and have been used nearly every weekend for the last year or so and have held up very well.

Just picked up a mat from Cabela's, nice design, seems very well built, has a fly for out front with a canvas strapping across it ti anchor your bipod legs, and a couple of small pockets, one which if used right will allow the buttstock of a standard rifle to fit in it and be rolled up with the mat. Has extra padding in the friction zones out of a rubbery type material, that allows you to anchor your elbows and not have any sliding or movement. I think it was a great buy at 80.00. the item number is IK-231046, at cabelas.com

I like my voodoo mat, rolls up small and can be clipped onto a pack.

+1 For Paul Bawden at Center the Group. http://www.centerthegroup.com/contact_info.htm

I got one of his Tri-Folds, picks up in seconds vs. having to roll up a mat and strap it up.

Passing this on for those who may not know (such as myself as of yesterday evening), Paul also offers an larger Tri-Fold mat that isn't currently listed on his website called the Mega Mat which is 84"x42" (standard Tri-Fold is 71"x23").

Cheers
Ben
