I know it is hearsay, but my Restricted course instructor said that the Ontario CFO will not give you an ATT for multiple places like gunsmiths and boarders.... Though I hope he is wrong, so if anyone knows differently, PLEASE contradict me, it would be the best news I have heard in a while.
Unfortunately, things tend to be tighter here in Onterrible than in BC and AB.
So, can anyone please confirm the ATF Form 6NIA (5330.3D) is the correct form for bringing firearms into the states for a match.
Also, are there any ATT concerns? Do I need to obtain a STATT to the border and back?
EDIT: 2 other things I guess, is there a regular way of getting an invitation from the club for the match being held?
Also, the manufacturer and address of the firearms being imported? I assume we can get this info off the contact page of each manufacturer?
And lastly, for the ammunition section, is it fine to indicate the ammo are reloads?
The invite from the club you intend to shoot at must be attached to your application for the US.
As an a point of interest IF you get stopped with a handgun/rifle/shotgun in the Eastern US with an Alaskan hunting permit don't be surprised if you run into problems.
"You will need to present this green card to Canadian Border Officer, which will identify the firearms you are taking back with you to Canada."
Is this something new? If you have your registration certificates with you, your Form 6 and your ATT or in your case the STATT then why would you need to fill in a green card. Your registration certificates should be enough and certainly enough to get back into Canada with the guns.

Read through this website, it is very helpful: http://www.losttarget.com/form6.html
You will need a US club shoot invite if you dont have a valid US State hunting license. Therefore, either of the 2-options will do.
One thing to remember, and I am talking about my experience here in ON, other Ontario shooters who shoot South of the border might disagree with me, but I always make sure I cover my ass legally document-wise. Make sure you obtain a Green Card (Identification of Articles for Temporary Exportation Form) from the Canadian Customs Office the first time you are taking your firearms outside of Canada before crossing the Canadian Border. Fill up this "green card" with the firearms information that you will take with you out of Canada. You will have to physically present the firearms to the Customs officer (at the Custom's office) for their identification and stamp your filled up "Green Card" with the identified list of firearms. You will need to present this green card to Canadian Border Officer, which will identify the firearms you are taking back with you to Canada.
Good luck and enjoy shooting South of the border.![]()

I respectively disagree about the "Green Card." I shot in Watertown, NY two weekends ago and have been shooting in the USA for a number of years. I don't even have a "Green Card". But I do have my registration certificates for the guns I have with me, to show the Canadian Customs.
I do have a match invite. If you contact the MD and explain why you need an invite, I have never been turned down. I also have a Alaska hunting license, for which I have never been asked.
My ATT, from my house to the border, is good for as long as my N61A form is valid for. I always have to show that coming back into Canada.
US Customs get to know you and I have never had anything but polite, understanding people. They are thorough, business like, but never have given me any hassles.
Uh Yes. Mine came back because the year wasn't specified on the invite.Uh.... no.

If you enclose a copy of your US State Hunting License you are OK to.
There isn't much chance of you being stopped after you enter the US BUT if you are and you tell the cop you have guns in the car, a Form 6 and an Alaskan Hunting License in July you run the risk of the cop deciding you entered the US illegally paricularly if you are on your way to Florida. The US Border people are super nice but your local county Sheriff may not be so understanding. I have a friend who is a NY State Trooper and I know what he would do because we dicussed it at great length on the phone one evening.
Easier to just get an invite from a club.

are you taking your chances in the states without an invitation? I thought not all clubs/MDs will issue one.![]()

To be valid with ATF, the invitation must have your name on it. It can't be a shoot announcement.Good ol CDN border securityI have printed my Alaska small game hunting license and gotten an invitation online from a new york gun club, (although I probably won't be shooting there) and am going to submit this with my Form 6 on Monday by fax.
Hopefully it doesn't take too long.
Thanks for everyone's help :0
BTW: Does anyone have the fax number to send this to?
