Looking at the book it says not accross or from the road, ditch and allowance. A buddy was possative it was also not within 300m. Anyone know if this is true?

I recall reading that that only applies to numbered highways. Meaning you can't shoot along or across them. I don't recall reading about a "distance from" however.

I know in the Whiteshell Provincal park you have to be 300m from the numbered hwy. or any dwelling.(I actually got a written warning for discharging a firearm just on the other side of a ditch). As far as parks are concern 300m is the standard other areas as long as you are across the ditch you are ok.

This only applies to maintained roadways, (roads that the government maintains) and not to back-country dirt roads, but you have to be careful because some gravel roads are also maintained, so you have to check to make sure.

The 300 meters is applied in provincial parks. If another road has it, then it is a specific case, as it is not the norm. For any other maintained road way, meaning graded and so on, as long as you are beyond the ditch in most cases you should be legal to shoot...........keep in mind though, that it may be private property that you're walking on to fire your firearm from. So make sure you know about the ownership of the land as well, and gain permission if required.
