Shooting right hand left eye

Yes, works fine for me, I am right handed left eye dominant, get better results than shooting with right eye.

It works fine for me as well. Right handed with neither eye dominant near as I can tell. But I have astigmatism in the right eye so the front sight image is blurry compared to a much sharper image when I use my left eye. So shooting right-left lets me shoot more accurately.

That's good to hear. Will get my first handgun soon and I shoot left with rifles (left eye dominant) but would feel much more comfortable to shoot right with a pistol.

I am left handed and left eye dominant; if I try to shoulder a rifle to my right shoulder, I hit myself in the ribs as I try to swing it over and instinctively put it to my left shoulder. Is there a reason you would feel more comfortable shooting the handgun right handed? I have been shooting handguns left handed for year with no issues; I just make sure whatever I get has an ambi safety.

use my right for rifles, but naturally use my left for handguns... I dunno:confused:

Same thing for me. A lot say it's better to shoot with both eyes open, but I didn't manage to do it right. I shoot well with only my left eye open and it worked out well so far...

thats me exactly - been working well - just takes a few hundred rounds to get used to - now it is instinct

Shoot with both eyes open for anything but bullseye shooting. For bullseye, move your back leg over to bring the sights over. Easier to do than explain.

Yep, right handed, left eye dominant. Shoot pistols with the right hand and use the left eye, so have to adjust slightly to move the sights in front of the left eye. Rifles and shotguns, I shoot left handed as I shoot both eyes open. Just had to teach myself to shoot left handed with long guns. Felt a little un-natural at first but quickly got used to it.

Because I'm right handed. I shoot left with rifles and it doesn't matter much, but a pistol in my left hand would feel awkward. Also, I feel like I'd have less coordination, less speed and less strength with my left hand.

Not counting that most handguns are right hand friendly...

The whole eye dominant thing is only important when you shoot a rifle with a scope. Use both eye for handgun and trap shoot. My daughter is right hand but left eye, she open both eye for archery and .22 pistol without any problem.

I'm also right handed and left eye dominant. I shoot handguns right handed with my left eye open. I find it easier if I tilt my head slightly to the right and have my right foot slightly back. It makes having the sights line up with my left eye more natural.
