I have seen in europe that they have shooting classes to give you
lessons on shotgun shooting. Also they have fitguns to give the
stock measurement you need.Does anyone know if there is anything like this in western Canada? I would like to get my gun fitted properly and perhaps some advice regarding shooting.I can hit clays pretty good but I'm sure it could be improved alot.If you have any input please post,Thanks

Call a local western gun range, I am sure they would be able to put you in touch with an instructor willing to teach. Usually costs some good $$.

There's a lot of stuff done in Europe you don't see here. For example, in Germany, a Hunter's Safety course is a 2 year Community College with a 4 hour exam and then you have to prove your ability to shoot.
"...stock measurement..." Usually only done when you're having a cu$tom $tock made. For most people, the right LOP is good enough. Put the butt in your bent elbow, if you can easily reach the trigger, the LOP is right for you. Gets adjusted by adding butt plate spacers, adding a recoil pad or cutting the stock. Applies to a rifle too.

Every factory rifle and shotgun I have held passes the butt in the bent elbow test, however they were not all right for me. There are numerous measurements that make a fitted gun stock. The most important measurement is the one that places your dominant eye in the right position. When pointing a shot gun the eye is the rear sight and determines point of impact.

In Edmonton contact Steve Lockham Sr. He is in the phone book. He will instruct as well as fit. Loads of experience and he is properly trained.

The bent elbo test does not indicate fit other that measuring your fore arm.;)

Good gun fit is one of the basics of shooting consistently good scores.

If you close your eyes and mount your gun in front of a mirror ... open them and you should see your eyes level and the barrel should be straight up and down (not canted).

Many of the top trap shooters give clinics across North America. I suspect the skeet and sporting guys do the same thing. We see Nora Ross and Leo Harrison here in Southern Ontario on pretty much an annual basis. They usually do some fitting at each clinic. They will pretty much travel anywhere if you can get the numbers needed to host a clinic.

All the elbow test tells you is that you are holding a gun and that you can bend your elbow.

WOW! This is really getting spooky. How many posts is this where I have agreed with you? Don't remind me what we disagreed on because I think I might have forgot. Either I am getting really old or the disagreement was not that important;)
