Shooting slings

I've been toying with the idea of making up a few different designs of shooting slings to play with at the silhouette range - been looking specifically at the m1907 pattern. Below images are pulled from a google search and I have a source for the fittings and can do the leatherwork myself.

What kind of slings do you guys use? Have you used this pattern before? Never really shoot offhand much with any sling other than a simple carry strap so just looking for some opinions and input.
 
I have a Turner Saddlery 1907 sling from New Mexico you can borrow. They are the best and might be good to look at if you're building your own.
 
The Turner Saddlery slings are excellent and I prefer the synthetic type. They don't stretch or rot and work well in freezing weather.
 
If you like leather 1907 slings, Les Tam's are top quality. For use on a hunting rifle though, I like the Safari Ching Sling from Galco. I have 2 stamped with Gunsite's raven logo, which is kinda cool to have, and 2 others without the raven.

Quite often (more often than not actually) there is a POI shift because
1: the rifle is recoiling differently because you are holding the forend .
2: because the rifle is being held by the forehand , the body tends to relax ( or tense depending on the shooter)at the Shot and nerves work much faster than a bullet leaving the barrel!
So yes, it is best to zero and practise using the sling instead of a bench rest if one is going to compete or hunt with the sling .

I like the 1907 military sling but am just about as happy just wrapping my arm in a simple carrying strap. Yes, I do see a change in POI with most rifles.
