Greetings,

I would like a set of shooting sticks for this years hunting season(ya I'm leaving it a little late:redface:)

I think the Primos Trigger, tall bi-pod are the ones I'm interested in.

I have searched the CGN sponsors website but they don't see to have them. Can someone recommend an on-line retailer?

Has anyone used this type? If so, what do you think?

I am also open to your suggestions.

Thank you.

I find those telescoping ones pretty wobbly. This is what I made:

screws in the bottom to cling to ice.

I picked up shooting sticks from basspro. I like them, they will stick in anything but rock and are adjustable. They fold out like tent poles, and are lightweight. Although I have thought of a bipod for the .223 I just picked up. I use my shooting sticks with my crossbow, my shotgun and rifle.

I make mine from pieces of dowelling from local building supply stores. Just drill a hole and get a small bolt, or maybe a piece of shoe lace to hold them together. I make lots of different lengths for different purposes. You can fancy them up with colour, tape, sharp ends or whatever, but it's mostly just a waste.

Cheap and just as effective as commercial ones.

Totally agree with rral22...make your own and save ur cash. They are just as good as store bought.. I found if you use cord to tie the sticks together they can be easily adjusted to your terrain.

For alot of years I used a set of tent pole style shooting sticks (Stoney Point??)...now I use a bog-pod bipod...I really like it. The bipod version works well as a hiking pole as well. Clay at Prophet River (site sponsor) sells these.

I've been using two wooden dowels. I think they are 5/8" in dia. Works fine. I don't fix the sticks together, but just hold them in my hand like an X, and rest the gun between. That way you can adjust how high or low to keep the rifle by moving your hand.

Ski poles at a garage sale.cut off the webbing and straps.................Harold........spray paint to color of choice

Stoney Points are excellent, light and compact. The Bog-Pod is also nice but a lot heavier and bulkier.

A buddy also has the Primos Trigger Stick. Works well but is ridiculously heavy.

Homemade is still my favourite. Wood dowels work well. Bamboo stakes from the garden store are fantastic...weigh nothing, cheap, strong. Bind two or three together using a cut strip of bicycle inner tube. It makes them easy to adjust for height, and they can be collapsed easily.

Type Varmint Al into your browser and check out his bi-fur pods.
you will save yourself some money , maybe have some fun making your shooting sticks and enjoy actually using them.
I did and I do use them a few times a season and they work.
But , that is just me.
