shooting sticks ?

A shooting stick is just that. A stick(or 2). Go into the bush and cut 'em. Think under 1" diameter and long enough for your height.

I got mine from African Sporting Creations. It's the older model with the copper connector which allows you to take the sticks down into a more gun-case-friendly length. Now they have an aluminum connector. They run about $200 or up to $350 with the premium wood.

I made my own shooting sticks about 15 years ago out of bamboo. Mine are actually old bamboo ski polls. Lighter than any shooting stick you can buy and they are still in perfect shape after all those years.

If I had to use commercial sticks, I think that BogPod makes the best ones. But if collapsibility isn't required, I would much rather just use homemade bamboo ones, or better yet make a set on-site. I always pack some rubber (not nylon) electrical tape to make and pad a set, or even a few inches of garden hose to use to pad the top section of self-made ones.

BUM, are those Long Grass sticks you're referring to? I thought they had stopped making those?

From my experiences in Africa, there is no such thing as typical African shooting sticks. It seems every PH has their own variation and according to each they are the best there is...lol Here in North America I use three-leg BogPod with the cam locks.
