A lot of good points mentioned in the forum here. As for shooting sticks, 3 dowels tied together, and use a bean bag or a sand filled sock to put in the cradle of the sticks that makes a huge difference when steading the rifle! With the dowels system, nice and light to carry.
If you are going to go prone, use a nice size back pack, the rifle lays the length of the back pack and is rock steady, that's all I use when I go prone. As a few members mentioned with the sling, find a nice 2 piece shooting system. Take your time adjusting it to the clothing you will be wearing, and practice using it from the kneeling. Good luck on finding what works for you.
